I've occasionally been getting the following error when opening match files:

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\BOTS RO\BOT003A  (34-15).sgf: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting VALUETEXT or ']'

Sometimes clicking OK will open the file other times it will not.

Michael

I assume it is reproducible. If so, could you send me a problematic match.

Christian.

The end of the match is damaged. Anything particular you can say about
how it was generated?

Christian.

There is another potential problem in the file: the formatting of the
comment looks a bit weird. How was the comment added?

Christian.

The comment is the field starting with GC. It could be added
automatically somewhere. I would have to check to be sure. It looks
like this in the file you sent me

GC[[Jacoby "On"\]
]

which is odd, but I don't know if it is part of the problem that you
are observing.

Christian.

ok
the match was imported from a .mat text file.
I had to add the jacoby bit so that extreme gammon would analyze matches with jacoby rule on.
I'm pretty sure all 50 files had the same comment added but I suppose it's possible I slightly mistyped
it in this one.
The odd thing is I've definitely worked on this file already and had no problems opening or using it with gnubg before.
Did I also mention I get the same error message with another file but it does open but with the first game missing?
