I downloaded the kde-edu tarball and followed instructions at http://edu.kde.org/kalzium/obtain.php to build.

I get this error when I run kalzium - http://paste.ubuntu.com/170883/

OK, did this and it worked - export KDEDIRS=$(kde4-config --prefix)
So it does not like being installed outside of the main KDE prefix :)
