Evince remembering last-viewed page

Dear Evince developers,

I would like to ask your advice about how to get Evince to remember my
last-viewed page please.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 using the pre-installed version of Evince
(2.28.1). I'm pretty sure that in my previous installations of Ubuntu
Evince would remember the last-viewed page of a .pdf document as this is
ideal when working through a large document. However in the current
installation, opening a .pdf always opens on page 1 leaving me to find
the last page I was on.

Is there anything I can do to get this functionality working please?

hmm, it should work, we haven't changed anything in 2.28 related to
metadata. File a bug report at launchpad because it could be an ubuntu
issue.

It is strange, I have Ubuntu 9.10 too and it works for me. Maybe you
have problems with your ~/.gnome2/evince directory, specially with the
file ev-metadata.xml
