Extension Owner: "seo"Hey developers,
as some of you might know, I've been working on the "seo_basics" extension in the last year. However, the feature that will come along in the next months will go over the "basics", so I've been wondering about the Extension Key "seo" which would suit way better as a defacto standard for SEO management. Although there are no releases of this extension on the TER yet, I found out the owner of the extension key (thanks to the typo3.org team) and sent him emails about the key, to multiple addresses and multiple times. But without a single answer. So, I'd like to address this issue to the extension coordination team what to do in this case. I would love to take over the extension and make an awesome SEO extension that will be a good out-of-the-box solution with some advanced features. Could somebody help me what I should do in this case? thanks. -- All the best, benni. -SDG- _______________________________________________ TYPO3-team-extension-coordination mailing list TYPO3-team-extension-coordination@... http://lists.netfielders.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/typo3-team-extension-coordination |

Re: Extension Owner: "seo"Hello Benjamin,
we don't have a defined time-frame, when a extensionkey should be transfered, but when the time is "long enough" it's not a problem. There's not extension in TER called "seo", so just the key is registered. How long are you waiting for response now? Cheers! Daniel Bruessler wrote: > There's not extension in TER called "seo", so just the key is registered. Yeah, that's why I thought it would be an easy thing to transfer (IF the owner responded). However I also wanted to check if the author is in the process of creating his own seo extension, merging our works together (that's also what I asked in my first email), but it seems like there is no process otherwise I would have seen either an answer or a published extension ;-)... > How long are you waiting for response now? I think 3 months with 3 emails not responded is enough to transfer an extension key. If there is a reason for a longer abstinence it could be retransfered (for special cases) Who is the authority in such case, typo3.org-team? core-team? vg Steffen _______________________________________________ TYPO3-team-extension-coordination mailing list TYPO3-team-extension-coordination@... http://lists.netfielders.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/typo3-team-extension-coordination |

No easy answer but rule must be decided and published. Re: Extension Owner: "seo"Hey,
maybe we should just do it as we did now. If somebody wants to take over an extension or an extension key, we can discuss this in this newsgroup. That's what it's for, right? :) Everybody who is an *active* extension developer reads newsgroups or at least answers his / her emails in a period of (in this case) 3 months. If nobody objects about a proposal on what to do in a certain case (it's not too common I think), the transfer can be made by the ECT bosses. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to have strict rules, because of design issues of the code of extension A and author B or something... As it doesn't have to do with the core at all, I'd like to leave the core team alone in this one :) They have other things to worry about. -- All the best, benni. -SDG- _______________________________________________ TYPO3-team-extension-coordination mailing list TYPO3-team-extension-coordination@... http://lists.netfielders.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/typo3-team-extension-coordination |

Re: Extension Owner: "seo"Hello Steffen, Patrick, Benjamin
OK, I think we have a good solution for such problems now. We shouldn't discuss big threads about this single problem :-) I've put this now in the ECT-wiki on forge -- please check it, if I wrote nonsense. http://forge.typo3.org/wiki/extension-ect/Extensionkey_transfer --------------------------------- h1. Extensionkey transfer The question: Extensionkey-owner XY doesn't response, can someone transfer it to me? h2. 1. Write emails and wait _2008-09-20 (Steffen Kamper, Patrick Gaumond, Daniel Brüßler)_ When NOTHING exists in TER: 3 emails and 3 months waiting for an extensionkey When code is in TER: 6 months and 6 emails and discusion-with-decision in ECT-mailinglist to transfer it h2. 2. Discussion-with-decision in ECT extension coordination mailinglist If somebody wants to take over an extension or an extension key we can discuss this in this newsgroup --------------------------------- next step: Who's got the best contact to Robert? If email change, typo3.org team knows because of account data. But it's right - ECT-Team should be set in CC, author can ask for verifying email address if no answer after 1 month or 2 mails. Developer should take care of availibility, otherwise he looses his claim. vg Steffen _______________________________________________ TYPO3-team-extension-coordination mailing list TYPO3-team-extension-coordination@... http://lists.netfielders.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/typo3-team-extension-coordination |

Re: Extension Owner: "seo"Hello,
our email-adress is the mailinglist-address :-) is it really possible to put it as CC? I think the other way is possible: To write a new entry in the mailinglist and put the author-address as second "to". Cheers! when we're ready with this discussion&decision http://forge.typo3.org/wiki/extension-ect/Extensionkey_transfer We can write a news-entry on forge and news.typo3.org - so it's clear for future questions. Re: Extension Owner: "seo"Hi Benjamin,
just one critical remark to your extension. Why do you want to include so many different things in only one extension? I really love like some of the features in your extension, but in combination it puts me of from installing the extension. In my eyes these are completely different things: 1) separate field for title-tag per page 2) easy keywords and description editing 3) Google Sitemap (XML) 4) clean output in the HTML Header 5) Sitemap ... I think about: 1) can be solved easily by pure TS - Just get the "subtitele" field shown in the <title> tag. 4) I use sourceoptimization for this task. 3+5)SiteMap and Google Sitemap are each cool features but in my eyes completely independent. They should be two independent extensions. 2) This is a really unique and very cool feature of your extension. I would love to use this one, but am put of by all the other features that I really don't need and want. What do you think? I would love to hear about your reasons. greetings Ron Benjamin Mack schrieb: > Hey developers, > > as some of you might know, I've been working on the "seo_basics" > extension in the last year.
