Extension binaries for windowsHi All,
I am a developer of IBM_DB2, PDO_IBM and PDO_INFORMIX PHP extensions. Its been a long time that pecl4win site is down. Is there any alternate channel from where users can download binaries for Windows for latest release? Regards, Ambrish Bhargava |

Re: Extension binaries for windowshi,
What is required to build these extensions on windows? Do the DB2/IFX/other SDK support VC6 and VC9? x86 or x64? Re: Extension binaries for windowsHello Pierre,
You are not entirely answering the question. I have too been waiting a long time for a pecl4win replacement. Do we have an estimate on how much time before we can see the light again? If not, why not bring the "olde pecl4win" back? The idea itself of pecl4win can't work again and won't work again (using random cvs snapshots with random versions of libraries). Re: Extension binaries for windowsthe fact that the box is not reachable is really not the issue. We
have plenty of boxes to host it and we already have a new one for this task. The reason I'm personally complaining is because I receive emails from people asking "where can I get that xyz PECL extension for Windows", and I have no idea what to answer apart from: "The new build system should be there soon". The soon part has been 6 months. If no one is going to work on this, we might as well say we do not support Windows because no one wants to support it on the PECL community side. >> If not, why not bring the "olde pecl4win" back? > > The idea itself of pecl4win can't work again and won't work again > (using random cvs snapshots with random versions of libraries). Well at least it did work for exts such as APC. And Steph did some work so CVS snaps are identified anyway. I don't care if it's a snap build and/or PECL depending on external libs don't work. Most people are using Windows build only to do development anyway. Thus, they just care to have a "semi-working" ext, even if it's a dev snapshot. I am not aware of what all the issues are with random cvs snapshots with random versions of binaries, all i can say is that it worked well for all windows users of ibm_db2, pdo_ibm and pdo_informix (i.e. they never complained about anything) >What is required to build these extensions on windows? >Do the DB2/IFX/other SDK support VC6 and VC9? x86 or x64? We havent tried VC6 since that is not supported for long time. VC9 (2008) we havent used. We have used VC2003 and VC2005, x86 and x64. It need 5 header files and 1 lib file. Can you let us know how we can move forward. |

Re: Extension binaries for windowsAre they CRT agnostic? We have to use VC6 for php 5.2. PHP 5.3
binaries are built using VC9 and VC6 (standard apache still uses VC6), see http://windows.php.net. On Wed, Apr 22, 2009 at 11:57 AM, Mario Briggs <mario.briggs@...> wrote: > > >>Where can I get them? no, not on windows.php.net but on pecl.php.net, based on releases. In the meantime I will provide binaries for 5.2 and 5.3 (if it works with 5.3). > Cool and thanks. On the package specific page on pecl site ? Greetings all, All references to pecl4win and related DLLs will be removed from the PHP documentation this upcoming Friday. This essentially only refers to the installation section of each documented PECL extension. No alternatives will be documented, because we have no official alternatives. Also, the following document will be adjusted to say something about this although I'm not yet sure what. Something like "Compile it yourself" although in a wordier fashion. Maybe this will inspire people to work on it. http://php.net/install.pecl Each PECL extension already refers to this document. Re: Extension binaries for windowshi,
There is a dedicated list for windows development if you like to, internals-win@... About your questions, see: - http://www.slideshare.net/pierrej/php-on-windows-internals - http://wiki.php.net/internals/windows/stepbystepbuild That won't work for PHP 5.2. Additionally you need VC6 (enterprise for non slow binary) for php 5.2. However once you get it for VC9 I can do the VC6 ones on our snaps if you don't a vc6 at hand.
