FW: FW: FW: FW: Invisible linksSigh back...
Am using Groovy inside Filemaker to extend its capabilities, so I only take all the bits inside the try{} Because the documentation I had been so carefully studying, and example snippets used PdfAnnotation.createLink(writer, newRectangle (10,10,20,20),PdfAnnotation.HIGHLIGHT_INVERT, newPdfAction...... format So I guess I was creating a literal rectangle too and then not being able to hide that. Have successfully added the code you so kindly attached and it works on both. Thank you. New book, can't come soon enough... john renfrew Right Way Up Office +44 1675 475341 Fax +44 1675 475342 Mobile +44 7767 443992 -----Original Message----- From: 1T3XT info [mailto:info@...] Sent: 06 November 2009 15:41 To: Post all your questions about iText here Subject: Re: [iText-questions] FW: FW: FW: Invisible links John Renfrew wrote: > Because it is being stamped...?? *SIGH* See the example and the attached PDF. Re: FW: FW: FW: FW: Invisible linksDare I say it...yes, I think so.
Maybe the book would come sooner if you had done some more of the research on your own instead of asking 50 questions and arguing with the people that were trying to help you over the last two days. It seems hypocritical to me to "complain" about how long the new book is taking when one of the reasons it takes so long is he spends so much of his time giving free help on this mailing list. Maybe you should attempt to use some logic and extrapolate from the examples that are provided like a good programmer instead of just blindly trying to copy them and then asking yet another question when they don't do exactly what you need right out of the box. > -----Original Message----- > From: John Renfrew [mailto:rwu@...] > Sent: Friday, November 06, 2009 12:01 PM > To: iText-questions@... > Subject: [iText-questions] FW: FW: FW: FW: Invisible links > > Sigh back... > > Am using Groovy inside Filemaker to extend its capabilities, so I only > take > all the bits inside the try{} > > > Because the documentation I had been so carefully studying, and example > snippets used > PdfAnnotation.createLink(writer, newRectangle > (10,10,20,20),PdfAnnotation.HIGHLIGHT_INVERT, newPdfAction...... format > > So I guess I was creating a literal rectangle too and then not being able > to > hide that. > > Have successfully added the code you so kindly attached and it works on > both. The keyword is "free help". We've started selling licenses for iText with a support contract, but sales aren't as expected, because: "It's hard to compete with free..." Companies say: "Why should we pay if we get all the support we need on the free list?" That's probably the psychological reason why my tone on the list is like it is: by giving good answers for free, I damage my own business. Maybe it's a catch 22: business isn't as good as it should be because I'm grumpy; but I'm grumpy because business isn't as good as it should be. Of course: companies that pay get priority; and a smile ;-) It's not easy to maintain a "free library", certainly not when one is confronted with pocket-filling companies such as JasperSoft, Google, UnifiedPost,... that make tons of money on the back of free products such as iText. There are probably some nasty changes ahead. Keeping iText a free library has become an almost daily struggle as pressure from sales grows. I don't think I can keep a license change away much longer. The MPL/LGPL will probably be dropped and replaced by the AGPL. -- This answer is provided by 1T3XT BVBA http://www.1t3xt.com/ - http://www.1t3xt.info ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
