Re: FW: [game_edu] iPhone Development ClassThanks for sharing Martin :)
In the tradition of PIMGI link-dumps I thought maybe the collection of links I have in my iPhone-dev folder might be of interest to others: iPhone Dev resources: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/index.action IGDA resources: http://www.igda.org/mobile/ and http://www.igda.org/wiki/Casual_Games_SIG Why it should be a pay-app: http://omnisio.com/startupschool08/david-heinemeier-hansson-at-startup-school-08 Who is using iPhones: http://theappleblog.com/2008/11/24/profile-of-an-iphone-user-interesting-statistics-about-yourself/ iPhone app pricing: http://apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2008/12/15/the-myth-of-the-99-cent-killer-app/ More on iPhone app pricing: http://bestpracticepricing.blogspot.com/2008/08/appstore-microcosmos-for-understanding.html iPhone - Price vs Popularity: http://www.mobileorchard.com/price-and-popularity-the-iphone-app-stores-data-shows-whos-making-the-big-money/ Trism developed for $500 by contracted programmer: http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/09/indie-developer.html Example of a Scriptlance bid for iPhone (with shake to shuffle): http://www.scriptlance.com/projects/1228654944.shtml?hl=iphone Wired latest iPhone stories: http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/iphone/index.html Some Sales figures for an iPhone app Mouse House: http://bang2d.com/?p=47 general dev stuff and wall papers :P http://iphonetoolbox.com fonts used in iPhone: http://daringfireball.net/2007/07/iphone_fonts more dev tips for iPhone: http://www.plaidworld.com/iphonefaq.txt iPhone metrics: http://www.lemonteam.com/blog/2008/12/iphone-metrics-and-monetization-solutions-round-up/ iPhone development FAQ http://iphonedevelopmentfaq.com/ Submitting app to store: http://www.pointabout.com/home/index.php/134/creating-media-assets-for-iphone/ I'm finding the IGDA Mobile and Casual Games SIGs and Mailing Lists useful - a few people lately have been sharing sales figures, including when they have changed the App price, which has been really interesting. We will probably do the same once our Apps get into the store since it's been so helpful to see other peoples' sales figures. meow & ciao, kat black =^..^= http://VJzoo.com ~ quite nice visuals ~ http://78friends.com http://TouchstoneTarot.com ~ tell me true ~ PO Box 3414, Broadway LPO, Crawley 6009, Western AUSTRALIA LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/katblack | Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kat-Black/25231686087 2009/4/4 Martin MASEK <m.masek@...>: > > > ________________________________ > > From: game_edu-bounces@... on behalf of S. The developer spent $500 on a "designer". " His team? Himself, mainly, with a little bit of help from a friend and a contracted designer (whom he paid $500)" There's enough mythology about iPhone development around without adding that kind of exaggeration ;-) On which topic, who in Perth is doing graphics for iPhone? I'm going to need some assistance in that area myself, although to my intense frustration my current double workload means I probably won't be doing any serious development on iPhone until after I get back from WWDC in June. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: pigmi-unsubscribe@... Re: FW: [game_edu] iPhone Development ClassThose were just shorthand notes to self. We've had one of our pretty
basic Apps programmed for US$200. Not that it will necessarily be successful, but it's certainly no myth that you can have an App developed for very low cost compared to most platforms. meow & ciao, kat black =^..^= 2009/4/5 Andy Dent <dent@...>: > > On 05/04/2009, at 12:18 PM, Kat Black wrote: >> >> Trism developed for $500 by contracted programmer: >> http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2008/09/indie-developer.html > > Not according to that story. > > The developer spent $500 on a "designer". > > " His team?
