Failed Nuxeo 5.3 RC1 Install on Apache TomcatHi There
I tried
Nuxeo 5.3 RC1 today. I work in an Apache Tomcat environment (no JBoss). So was
hoping that 5.3 RC1 would fix the problems that we had
in 5.2 with Tomcat installation.
Sadly I was still not able to get the tomcat
distribution to work. Our environment is Tomcat 6.0.20, Windows XP SP4, Sun JDK
6.0 update 16. I had hoped as this was a promised feature in Nuxeo 5.2 that it
would be resolved by 5.3 RC1. We are still hoping you will be able to sort this
out for the 5.3 Final
release.
I have provided details of our setup and the problems we
experienced in JIRA - http://jira.nuxeo.org/browse/NXP-4173.
It appears that there are a number of jars, and datasources missing, and an incorrect jar reference in context.xml.
But even with these fixed, I am still getting additional errors.
I assume you have had this up and working on
Tomcat, is there anything I am missing? The Tomcat installation instructions in
/nuxeo/nuxeo-distribution/README.txt for the Tomcat install are rather sparse,
and we could not find any more detailed information in the online documentation.
So we assume we have installed Nuxeo correctly.
It would be great to see some more documentation on
using Nuxeo with Tomcat and Jetty, both for development, and in a production
environment.
And any help/advice
you could offer on Tomcat installation would be appreciated.
Cheers
Cameron

Re: Failed Nuxeo 5.3 RC1 Install on Apache TomcatHi,
The tomcat distribution does not (currently) run a full DM : but only Core + WebEngine. We are currently working on having EP or DM deploy in Tomcat as it does in Jetty. There is a lot of work because we have make all services run without a Transaction Manager and without any JEE features (like JCA connector). This should be ready for the GA. Nevertheless, keep in mind that Tomcat has no transaction manager and then is not safe (+ no JCA connector). We may publish a tomcat bundle that include a Tx manager in the next weeks.
