Fall Trail RidesAre there any Fall trail rides in the area? I'm itching to do an event since I just got a new-to-me bike to replace my trusty old XR400.
Speaking of trail rides, the picture on the group homepage at yahoo looks to be one of Leo's trail rides and is that Joe W. ridding the wheelie? I went on a Leo-led trail ride once and it was awesome! I haven't been to Taskers Gap in a whole bunch of years (not since the DCOffroad group went). What's the riding like there? Curtis |

Re: Re: Fall Trail RidesThere are always people at green ridge state park in MD. Need DNR sticker, via website/mail or at ranger station there on Saturday. No tags needed, trails far, far, far, far superior to Taskers Gap.

Re: Fall Trail RidesYou missed the real Fall Trail Ride that was 3 weeks ago. Sup Curtis long time, yep thats me riding the wheelie and it is one of Leo's first rides from his place, sadly Leo sold his dirt bikes and bought a Cruiser. I havent been riding too much this year but we have been getting up to PA a couple of times for some fun days. Taskers is now pay to ride but its only like $5. and you can get them at the local store down the hill from little fort, i havent been there for a while but cant imagine the rocks got any softer or fewer. Let me know when you want to go ride maybe we can hook up. There are a couple local rides coming up. What bike you got? not to pull from here but damnriders.org has been a cool local riding website with some decent action. Re: Fall Trail RidesI got an '07 YZ450F. I still have the XR400 - recovered after it was stolen from my garage. I'm still missing two bikes not covered by insurance.
That Taskers Gap ride we went on was the one where Aaron was riding Leo's XR4 and he went tumbling past me on a rocky section and broke the steerer out the back of the top triple clamp. I went to school in Frostburg and know the area a little bit because of mountain biking so Leo's ride was awesome. It was totally cool to ride from N. Cumberland to above Frostburg and back. About the Greenridge suggestion: The last time I went there, I found an absolutely awesome trail that had some rough/steep/loose downhill routes and some cool single track. It was something like a 35 minute loop through some rough riding and some curvy single track. It was weird how it dumped out on one of the roads before the ATV parking area. I later figured out that it was an illegal trail or something - it was a mountain bike trail I think. I thought the only approved riding was on the "roads" that make a big circle. Re: Re: Fall Trail RidesGreen Ridge is fast and open, about 16 miles long. If you want knarly single track go to "The Cove". I'd recommend you join northern virginia trail riders for a group of people to do rides with, they have a website and are a dedicated bunch that can take you all over the area.

Re: Fall Trail RidesI've been to the Cove a couple of times. I did the NVTR Spring trail ride there twice. The last time I went there was in the Fall and they had a few guys in 4WD trucks running the wrong way on trails.
What was the "real Fall ride three weeks ago"? About three weeks ago, I went to the US Open of Supercross in Vegas so I probably couldn't have done the ride anyway. |
