That's strange, it should work. Can you post some more code, for the .cfc (content type) and the edit handler (edit.cfm?).

Got a funny thing, when using this code, so including both
"catshopproducts,linkNavigation":

use the navigation folder selector.

I now tried to use it and grasping the idea, with this in place i can
set each shopproduct to a certain nav node, then as Chris suggested
filter on current request.navid against the navid in the content
type's extra "linkNavigation" field value created by adding:

name="linkNavigation" type="string"
hint="Link to a navigation folder within the site." required="no"

What i want is that when a admin creates navigation's, also the needed
categories are created. That way you can use the internal category
system of Farcry so you can put the products and also put product
images and documentation all together in the right categories.

Then with a copied paste and slightly changed dmnews listing rule, now
shopproduct rule, they can set the rule for the right nav.

As i understand the navigation formtool should made this all possible
automatically accept for the categories creation?
Maybe i don't grasp the idea yet but i am stuck when thinking of one
content item being selected for one navigation node, i need multiple
navigation nodes for one content type.

I assume you are trying to set a "home" within the site tree for your
news items to appear.

I have used the Navigation Formtool http://docs.farcrycms.org/display/FCDEV40/Navigation+Folder+Selector
to associate content items with a particular navigation node.

You can then modify the sql in your publishing rule to check
request.navid to select the items that need to appear.

Admin users can then specify where the content items should appear by
selecting the navigation node(s).

Creating Navs is easy, creating Categories also, but what if you want
to create those both at the same time. For instance when you want to
use a rule like the dmnews listing rule, then you have to pick a
Category that you want to show.

Shouldn't it be logical when there was a little magical checkbox when
creating a Nav that states
"Create Category", so the process would be a one step, not multi with
manual thinking and entering Category names and levels...

Anyone had ever made a solution for that?

Mistake i was making is that i replaced the css id name with nav....
working as you suggested indeed generates the menu "almost" perfect,
so indeed wrapping with div with css id was the trick....

You should be able to use the genericNav webskin to generate the
required html to drive the menu. Add the required css/js.

I have always had good results using Project Seven menus - see
http://www.projectseven.com/products/menusystems/pmm2/index.htm for a
multi-level menu. This one does require some slight changes to
genericNav to create the html.

Most unordered list menus should work without any modification - check
the parameters you can pass into genericNav and the example you're
using should work using genericNav just wrap it in div with an id of
"menu". You may need to make a slight change ti genericNav to make tho
top level items H2's, if so copy genericNav into your project.

Ok think we found the problem. It's to do with this one:

There isn't an ftJoin for the dmNavigation.

Short story is we took that out after upgrading to 5.2.7. The reason
being we noticed that an "Open Library" button was appearing next to
the Navigation tree. That wasn't there in 5.1.0. So bit of looking
into Core we noticed there is a check going on for an attribute called
ftShowLibraryLink. If that was true then it shows the "Open Library"
button.

So we've put the ftJoin back and added ftShowLibraryLink="false" to
hide the button. Looks like that's got TinyMCE back up and running and
also hidden that button.

I've done a query to find out what rights a Contributor (who can edit their own profile) has that my new User Group does not have. I went through the list to remove the Event, Fact, Link and News permissions and was left with:

Farcryblog, section blog don't show fields

I am setting up farcryblog but when installed i can't see any
formfields under section blogs...
Do i need to setup anything more? Above the page i see a statement
about setting up form spam settings and a whole bunch of setting, do
you have to set those up before you can use the section blog?

Like I say I'm seeing the pickers and able to drag in what I need from
the Libraries but when it comes to put them into the Editor I get that
error in the FarCry Button area.

If you want to see the whole CFC let me know. It's quite big though.

I've never seen the error myself, but it's probably related to an array or uuid property. Do they all have an ftJoin attribute defined?

It's mainly our custom types which are doing this, but not all of
them. Some I've worked on today, others we've not touched in a while.
I can't seem to see what's different though from the ones that are
working.

The types themselves work and there doesn't seem to be any syntax
errors in the CFCs.

We've running FarCry 5.2.7.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Indeed best way is to compare to existing role that can do the stuff
you need, if you changed it all then use a fresh install to check on
that (been there). I suggest you try those mentioned permissions i
stated above, this is how i created a custom role for shop customers
that only should have a few permissions including editing their own
profile, it works!
