FeatureRequest(2.2.2)Currently trying Thinstation in our company, but our hardware is mostly composed of Lenovo M55e with broadcom BCM5786 ethernet cards, which are not supported in the tg3 driver of TS 2.2.2. I've noticed there is a contributed updated tg3 driver, but we have no Linux system to make a build (we are currently using TS-O-Matic to build). Would really be nice to have this driver included in TS-O-Matic.... Regards, Gaston DASSIEU-BLANCHET IS Manager & Security Officer Valeo Unisia Transmissions K.K. Re: FeatureRequest(2.2.2)Hello Mike,
Thank you very much but, unfortunately, it did not work: >dmesg | grep tg3 tg3: module has no symbols (stripped?) > modprobe tg3 FATAL: error inserting tg3 (/lib/modules/2.6.16.5/tg3.ko): invalid module format There are two contributed tg3 drivers... would it be possible to try the other one? tg3_TS-2.2.tar.gz tg3_ts-2.x.tar.gz Regarding preparing a Linux VM and building it myself, I am doing this now (I've just finished downloading a Linux distro and already prepared the VM). However, while I have the skills to do install a Linux distro and make my own build, not everyone in my company does. Since I am trying to prepare a company-wise procedure, it would be best if it could be done with TS-O-Matic. It worked! Module was loaded and network started up successfully. (when I received your message I was fighting against "version magic" issues with the module I had separately compiled and the Thinstation kernel... Re: FeatureRequest(2.2.2)Hi Mike,
It really is working fine. The performance (flash animations, videos) is even better than the standard MS TS client from a Windows workstation. I'm not sure if you'll be able to answer this, but I setup the JA (Japanese) keyboard layout and it works fine, except that the "Windows" and "Context menu" keys don't work. Do you have any idea about what I can do to fix this? Re: FeatureRequest(2.2.2)Hello Mike,
Sorry to bring this up again. Still struggling to get the Windows keys working in rdesktop with the Japanese keymap. For testing purposes, I booted ubuntu live CD, set all settings to Japanese, and ran rdesktop 1.6.0 (same version as in Thinstation 2.2.2). In this case, the Japanese keymap worked well, including the windows keys (rdesktop autodetected keymap=ja). In Xorg0.log I can see that the following options are set: xkb_rules=evdev xkb_model=jp106 xkb_layout=jp xkb_options=lv3:ralt_switch In Thinstation 2.2.2, I set KEYBOARD_MAP=ja. Rdesktop is executed with "-k ja" and the Japanese layout works well except for the Windows and "context menu" keys. When I press the Windows key, the message "WARNING: No translation for (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol)" is displayed in boot.log. In Xorg0.log, I see that the following options are set: XkbModel=pc105 XkbLayout=us Could these Xorg keyboard settings be the root cause of the problem? If so, do we have any control of the X keyboard settings from Thinstation? I thought you were having truble with keys being mapped in rdesktop...???? Rdesktop uses it's own keymaps and not the XOrg ones. Has been discussed on numerous occasions on the rdesktop lists. Possibly Ubuntu is using the SVN version of rdektop (or their own patched version). The latest SVN version of the rdesktop ja keymap is http://rdesktop.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/rdesktop/rdesktop/trunk/keymaps/ja?revision=1487 And it should replace packages/keymaps-ja/rdesktop/lib/kmaps/keymaps/ja Good Luck Trevor B BTW, XOrg 6.9 use it's own ja keymap, NOT jp. > > Anything would help... > > Gaston DASSIEU-BLANCHET > IS Manager & Security Officer > Valeo Unisia Transmissions K.K. > 2585 Iiyama, Atsugi-shi, Kanagawa 243-0213, Japan > Office: +81 (0)46 250 7793 Mobile: +81 (0)80 6510 8809 Fax: > +81(0)46 250 7742 > e-mail: gaston.dassieu-blanchet@... > > > > On Tue, Nov 3, 2009 at 9:30 AM, Gaston DASSIEU-BLANCHET > <gaston.dassieu-blanchet@...> wrote: > > Hello Trevor, > > > >> X_DRIVER_OPTION1="XkbLayout jp" > >> X_DRIVER_OPTION2="XkbModel jp106" > >> X_DRIVER_OPTION3="XkbOptions ly3:ralt_switch" > > > > Thanks, but I had already tried that. Re: FeatureRequest(2.2.2)Hello Trevor,
Thanks for your reply. Sorry about my misunderstanding. I am not familiar with how Linux works with Keymaps. I just read in the Thinstation FAQ (http://thinstation.sourceforge.net/keyboard-guide.html) that a "Thinstation keyboard actually consists of three keymaps", that's why I was trying to make sure all of them are working fine. Since rdesktop runs "on top of X", it seemed logical to think that if the X keymap can't see certain keys rdesktop would not be able to see them either... I will try what you suggest and continue to investigate. If I find a good solution I will post back here.
