Good afternoon Roller,

Today I tried to run Roller on my Tomcat environment with the help of your roller-install-guide.pdf.

Unfortunately I did not have success.

I’m using the combination apache-tomcat-6.0.18, Roller 4.0.1 and mysqldb 4.1.

When starting up new tables have been created in the database.

And I have a roller.log file. So it seems ok.

But now the sad part. I get a “HTTP Status 404 -” report. When I open the start page of roller (http://localhost:8080/roller/).

The roller.log file does not show any error.

The localhost.log does show “Error while locating instance bound to org.apache.roller.weblogger.business.themes.ThemeManager “(see also the attachments).

Unfortunately I could not solve this problem by reading your pdf. So I tried to read the “roller faq” (http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/ROLLER/Roller+FAQ) but got:

Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed

Explanation: The request timed out before the page could be retrieved.

Could you tell me what I’m doing wrong with roller?

With kind regards,

Marko

Are you using the binary distribution of 4.0.1 or did you build Roller
from the sources yourself?

Those are usually healthy signs.

Unfortunately attachments get lost when sent to Apache mailing lists, so
we can't see those.  Was there an exception stack trace?  If so, could
you please paste the text directly into your message.

This seems to have been some transient issue with the wiki or your
network connection because I am not seeing this error now.  However, I
think the FAQ wont have an answer for your specific situation, so you
are better off here on the list.

This list is the right place to ask.

BTW, the wiki was down. I pinged the #asfinfra team on IRC and they
just brought it back up.
