Feedback: MySQL Connector for OpenOffice

First of all: thank you! This will be a great addition to OpenOffice and
provide huge potential evoulution to a vast amount of people accessing
MySQL database over the Internet and willing to integrate those data
into an office working pipeline. I am positive about that. So, I say
that again: thank you :-)

Anyway, I really wonder what's going on with that nasty 10060 error code
that affects out of the intranet connections. It's not that uncommon to
use OpenOffice locally and accessing some MySQL database (using IP only)
residing elsewhere on the Internet. I would not call it a rare case. I
am one of those who is willing to use it under such circumstances. So I
really hope you can come to a soultion soon.

Have a nice day, looking forward for a future release.
Regards, Roberto from Italy.

We're waiting for the MySQL team at the moment for a solution for this
problem, since it is in Connector/C, a core component used by the
driver. (For instance, on my machine, I cannot connect to an "outer"
server using Connector/ODBC, too. C/ODBC also uses C/C, thus it suffers
from the same problem. On the other hand, the original reporter of this
bug told that C/ODBC works fine for him. Quite strange, and still
waiting for evaluation ...)

Thanks & Ciao
Frank
