Feedback on Search Page in JTrac 2.1 Beta

I think that the search in 2.0 was better than 2.1 because in 2.1 I need
extra keystrokes to expand the search criteria for fields that have list of
values. First I need to select the search criteria and pick "has values".
This will dynamically get the list of values for the field. Then I have to
choose from the list of values. In the earlier version I could directly
select the criteria, which was much more efficient for me from a usability
standpoint. Now I have one extra step to perform the search. The new search
page does not look good to me. If you like I can email screenshots comparing
the old search page with the new.

Thank you!

Hello,

I have a suggestion on how to make search more easy and quick: have a
simple search box at the top of the page, with an extra submit button.
That field searches summary and details fields together with "contains
the words" or something like that. Those search results (empty input
matching all issues) are then filtered by selected criterias in the
current search design.

Hi,

I will look at the options.  This has been raised by others as well so I hear the pain :|  You can raise a feature request so we don't lose this.

Actually the version in SVN has an extra link on the search screen that displays all the field select values, I'll try to get this available as an interim-build soon.

Thanks,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

If I could add my 2c:
My preference would be for a "simple search" single textbox on the top
of every page (same place as the existing search link is now) for a
search across all fields ("google style") and then next to it have the
current link that is in 2.1 now, but just rename it as "advanced search"

what do you think?

Maks.

Create and edit users in LDAP with JTrac

Hi All!
In our company we used JTrac with an LDAP Authentication for a years. In addition we use the same LDAP for SVN users. Sometimes users in JTrac try to change password and was surprised as it's not result in LDAP (and isn't change SVN password too).
To prevent such a case we patch JTrac in order to update users info and password in LDAP when someone change password in JTrac.

Is anybody interesting in such a patch? It allows to use JTrac as a simple LDAP manager. IMHO the best choice for a small company.

PS: I can prepare clear code by the end of may. It's needed to patch JTrac, JTracImpl, ProviderManagerFactoryBean and JtracLdapAuthenticationProvider (and applicationContext-acegi.xml of course). Also it's need to change JtracConfigurer - to specify SuperUser DN/password for create new users in LDAP.

Let's wait Peter. May be Peter dosen't approve to change JTrac interface and JTracImpl. But I'm need to add a setter in JTrac to setup a link to AuthProvider used in system. That allow us to use "hard" setup (in applicationContext-acegi.xml) of AuthProvider as like as "properties" setup. And more. I decided that only one AuthProvider must work (not like at this time - see ProviderManagerFactoryBean.getObject).

Still open for discussion ;)

If you could add an initial patch on SF we could perhaps have a more
useful discussion :-)

Also, I'm not interested in it only for the trunk but also for
customized versions.
