Re: File category disappearsHi,
I am not sure I understand the problem correctly. > Yestoday I found "File category" in "Index Information" of beagle > disappeared . > So I now can not search files in an ext3 partition. You mean the drop-down box in the search UI beagle-search ? Or the "Index information" menu item in beagle-search. Or are you talking about something not related to beagle-search at all ? If possible, a picture with and without the "file category" will help. - dBera -- ----------------------------------------------------- Debajyoti Bera @ http://dtecht.blogspot.com beagle / KDE fan Mandriva / Inspiron-1100 user _______________________________________________ Dashboard-hackers mailing list Dashboard-hackers@... http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dashboard-hackers |

The output might have some information. _______________________________________________ Dashboard-hackers mailing list Dashboard-hackers@... http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dashboard-hackers |

It appears as though the Files backend is not running. And there is no notification message for it either! I don't know if gentoo disables debug building by default; if not, then my best bet is to run "beagled --debug" and observe the log at ~/.beagle/Log/current-Beagle But this is really strange. Could you also verify ~/.beagle/conf/Backends.xml and ~/.beagle/conf/FilesBackend.xml (I am writing the names from memory) has the filesbackend really really enabled ? - dBera -- ----------------------------------------------------- Debajyoti Bera @ http://dtecht.blogspot.com beagle / KDE fan Mandriva / Inspiron-1100 user _______________________________________________ Dashboard-hackers mailing list Dashboard-hackers@... http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dashboard-hackers |

Re: File category disappearsI don't have ~/.beagle/conf , only have ~/.beagle/config/ directory .
But in ~/.beagle/config/ , I don't have Backends.xml and FilesBackend.xml. Everytime I delete ~/.beagle completely and run beagle freshly , I can see "File" in "index information" . But in the middle of the searching data , it disppeared. 2009/4/16 D Bera <dbera.web@...> This is quite strange! This might explain this, and hopefully would suggest clues in the log files. But (lowering head in shame) my memory failed me nor could I find any commit message or email to the list ... quick glance at the code didnt reveal anything either. I only found this - too many exceptions now disable the particular "task" (e.g. file crawling will be disabled if there are too many errors) but the backend would still be available for querying! For now, running with debug enabled and checking the current-Beagle till the "File" backend disappears seems to be the only recourse. Anyhow, I don't like this way of backends silently disappearing! - dBera -- ----------------------------------------------------- Debajyoti Bera @ http://dtecht.blogspot.com beagle / KDE fan Mandriva / Inspiron-1100 user _______________________________________________ Dashboard-hackers mailing list Dashboard-hackers@... http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dashboard-hackers |
