Firebug crashing Firefox for some sitesFirebug is great. Absolutely indispensable. But you know that. Unfortunately, about a week ago it started crashing every few pages that I tried to load. Hmmm. The symptom is that the page will part load and then Firefox will freeze completely and has to be stopped and re-started. It is a completely reproducible problem and so for me happens (for example) every time I try to access the following page - http://tutorials.zen-cart.com. It can be stopped by disabling Firebug for the sites in question. But as that's roughly 1in 5 sites that I have tried to visit in the few days and Firefox needs to be re-started every time, before the page can be disabled for the future, surfing (or research as I prefer to call it) has become a real drag. I was using Firebug 1.05 until this morning, when I upgraded to 1.1b4, but have seen no change as a result of the upgrade. Other obvious steps like flushing my cache have been done, and I'm not the only person having this problem (I've been contacted by others asking if I know how to fix it!) Any suggestions would be most welcome. Or is it a real bug? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Firebug" group. Re: Firebug crashing Firefox for some sitesThe referenced site uses http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js which crashes FF with Firebug. Do you have javascript.options.strict set true? Pls URL about:config for that setting. On Oct 17, 1:54 am, Kuroi <pe...@...> wrote: > Firebug is great. Absolutely indispensable. Re: Firebug crashing Firefox for some sitesThanks John, but I'm afraid that a bit more hand holding might be needed here. How do I tell if I have the javascript.options.strict set to true? Though, using the web developer toolbar (am I allowed to mention that here???) I go to disable > javascript > strict warnings and select it (it wasn't selected before) this stops the problem dead. This sounds like the same thing as you're asking, but I don't haven't been able to find a way to access it other than through the Web Developer toolbar. Not sure what "Pls URL about:config for that setting" means. However, all this may be moot. With Firefox 2.0.0.8 and Firebug 1.1.0b5 the problem appears have been resolved anyway. Re: Firebug crashing Firefox for some sitesI've noticed similar problems and have javascript.options.strict set true. Setting to false will stop the freeze? Re: Firebug crashing Firefox for some sitesKuroi, If you type "about:config" into your address bar in FF you'll get a list configuration options for FF. If you then type strict into the filter text box, you should see it. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Firebug" group. Re: Firebug crashing Firefox for some sitesjavascript.options.strict false will significantly reduce the number of FF crashes with pages that use pageads.js aka Google AdSense.
