What firewall ports need to be open (for inbound and/or outbound) for
the GNU Gatekeeper?
I see
CallSignalPort
Q931PortRange
H245PortRange
T120PortRange
RTPPortRange

Are those it?

Thanks!

For the ranges
Q931PortRange
H245PortRange
T120PortRange
RTPPortRange
How big a range shall we set? is it good enough to have 999? eg
Q931PortRange=15000-15999
H245PortRange=16000-16999
T120PortRange=17000-17999
RTPPortRange=18000-18999

Also, can the range overlap? eg:
Q931PortRange=10000-20000
H245PortRange=10000-20000
T120PortRange=10000-20000
RTPPortRange=10000-20000

The ranges may not overlap.

The size you need depends on the number of calls you have at the same
time, but using ranges of 1000 puts you on the safe side unless you
have an extremly high call volume.

Jan

Correct me if I am wrong Jan. My understanding is the first 3 port
range is TCP and last one is UDP. So you can use a range for the last
one that overlaps the first 3, but in reality they won't conflict (tcp
vs udp). Also the document says the last one (RTPPortRange) uses two
ports for each connection, so you should have that range doubles the
first 3 ranges.

Sure, you can use the same ranges for UDP and TCP, but not reusing any
ports puts you definitely on the safe side.

The number of RTP sockets depends on the type of call and can easily be
more than 2. But again, if you have a range of 1000 ports, it'll take a
while to fill that up.

Jan
