First time user of Ubuntu

Dear All,

 

I just installed utuntu 8.10 in my laptop and when I started it I am being asked for my username and password ? How do get these? During installation from CD received from Ubuntu, I was only asked for password?

 

Kindly assist

I suggest trying the ubuntu support channels. I don't think the gdm
developers will be of much help here.
