Position:       Forensics Engineer
Location:       Schaumburg, Illinois, United States
Type:           Permanent F/T

Closing Date:   2008-12-04

This role will support the Mobile Devices business and report to the Motorola Information Protection Services leader for Mobile Devices. Incumbent will be responsible for applying digital forensic evidence production protocols to rapidly service time sensitive, highly confidential investigations and high profile litigation/electronic discovery. Specific responsibilities include:
• Perform Forensic Investigations in accordance with industry-accepted practices and corporate policy
• Assist in the ongoing improvement of processes and procedures
• Assist other investigators with difficult tasks as needed
• Review investigation requests for accuracy and completeness
• Document requests and activities in case management system
• Conduct forensic investigations by collecting and analyzing digital evidence, logs and configuration information to determine a cause or behavior
• Research and recommend forensic tools that improve productivity and accuracy of investigators
• Identifies diagnoses and corrects errors and problems.
• Provides technical guidance and assistance to others involved in the investigation to ensure precautions are taken to prevent data and equipment damage.
• Serves as technical consultant and provides training in computer examinations and techniques to other forensic investigators and internal investigative entities
• May be required to testify in court as to the procedures and methods used to obtain data.
• Studies computer literature, attends trade shows and seminars, reviews new products, etc. to keep abreast of the latest information and technology available.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
-Bachelors Degree
-10+ years of digital forensic or forensic software experience
 Proficiency with range of forensic software and processes
 In-depth understanding of computer hardware, operating systems and common business software
 Expertise in computer file systems and file system artifacts
 Knowledge of Federal Rules of Evidence
 Strong written and verbal communication skills
 Attention to detail
 Proactive approach to problem identification and solving
 Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems
 Ability to interact at all levels of management and lead cross-functional, cross-regional teams
 Experience in using one or more standard forensic tools, certification preferred
 Recognized forensic certification and at least one year of experience
