Anonymous account password
Having an admin password on the public mailing list is not a good
idea. It has now been changed.
Any admins wanting to regain access to it can email / message me on IRC today.
(preferably email as I am not so hot on IRC...)

When submitting a "remix", I received a white-screen with the following error
message:

"/var/www/openclipart.org/htdocs/cc-custom.php"(114): Array to string
conversion [2009-11-19 03:14 am][127.0.0.1][/media/submit/remix]

Despite the error message, the upload apparently succeeded b/c I can see it in
my profile http://openclipart.org/media/people/freephile

The image I uploaded was "cake"

In general, the whole 'remix' idea seems to be broken. I found the "Balloons"
image on the old site, and tried to upload a modified version as a remix but it
wouldn't find the original -- so I couldn't attribute the source except to note
it in the actual metadata of the file itself. I did do that because I created
the file in Inkscape.

Cool! I added bassel and michael to this, and the list...would one of
you guys have time to test and apply this code? Its a good stopgap for
that bug we encounter, and might be good to add getid3 support to aiki
anyway...

Another SuperAdmin job - Upgrading the wiki

Can someone please upgrade the OCAL wiki from 1.6.8 to the latest
stable version? I think it's up to 1.15 now. This should give us
better spam protection as well as giving us some useful tools to work
with.

Ok, yes, there is a lot floating around all over the place.

I propose the way forward as:

1.) Our guide is http://openclipart.org/wiki/Roadmap

2.) Our goal is to do the monthly releases

3.) We support michi and bassel (admins) how we can to get OCAL 2.0 up

4.) After they give greenlight on new site, we migrate any outstanding
bugs to launchpad for OCAL 2.0

5.) We release it big.

There are some things to do there on the Roadmap. Michi and Bassel, is
there any tasks that can be added to the roadmap that Chovynz and
others can help with?

I bring up the chat, because at least there we can talk in realtime
about things :)

The admin can assign tag through the upload's property pages (same as
the user sees). Otherwise no. If the admin uses the tag in the admin
screen, it will get locked again. You can write custom code in your
installation for the admin screen that would prevent the admins from
adding any new tags (only allowing super-admins to do that).

Web-based API for accessing OpenClipart?

Hi there, I'm new to this list, so apologies for coming out of nowhere
with this question.

I'm lead developer & cat-herder for the Tux Paint project
( http://www.tuxpaint.org/ ) which, a few years ago, gained SVG support
for its "Stamps" feature. Since then, a few volunteers have been pulling
in kid-appropriate SVG-based artwork from the OpenClipArt collection.

A while back, I was putting together plans to create a web application
and database for managing contributions to Tux Paint's stamp collection.
(e.g., if a photographer wants to donate a photo, they can upload it to the
database, and one of the volunteers can then come along and prepare it
for Tux Paint: remove the background, crop, create metadata, etc.)

Realizing that, for photographic contributions, a lot of content would
probably get skimmed from sites like Flickr and Wikimedia Commons,
it occured to me that for the initial 'drop' of a new stamp, we could
simply keep track of a reference the photo at Flickr or Wikimedia.

Both of those services have APIs for accessing content (without resorting
to screen-scraping), which I think would help a lot when creating this
web app. I'm curious, does the OpenClipart library have something
similar, or are there plans? (e.g., some RESTful XML)

Sorry for rambling. Got up early today, drove 2hrs to go to SVGOpen,
and then drove 2hrs back home and have been tending to a sick toddler
this evening, so I think my brain is off. ;)

I am motivated enough :-) I have filed bugs, which is in my opinion the best way to help having an up and running website, allowing busy developers to put their effort where the need is. Things you can follow and track.

So far, I've spotted many typos, a bunch of links which are wrong, and an enormous bug in the users' signups statistics (which also happens on the current website).

I also have filed a bug against bugzilla/freedesktop which badly affects users of modern browsers.

We at OCAL have to have a way to trace this issue, and maybe prevent people
from having the same problem that I had.

The easiest way to do this is to file a bug describing the resulting problem
(this bug), keeping it OPEN until bug 24192 (the cause of this bug), which
doesn't depend on us, is fixed.
