Free hosting availability in Open Source for VI?

Hello Colleagues,
I recently signed up to 'Resource Base' to see what it is like - apparently when it was first set up there were no banner ads etc. but now there is a plethora.
The site was initally set up by a colleague in Chesterfield, James Hingston, and I explained that possibly why there was such a small take up was the appearance of banner ads. I know that most hosting normally involves a fee but wondered if you knew of any GNU sources that might be willing to host such a forum as:

Kind regards,
John.

What do you mean by GNU sources? I guess you mean a LAMP stack as this
is phpBB? Not doubt there are loads of free (beer) possibilities
there.

I personally use ukfsn.org for fullmeasure.co.uk and
schoolforge.org.uk and now straight-street.com also use it. It small
but reasonably comprehensive, supported and reliable. Better they
support FOSS by plowing some profits back. They offer free hosting for
community/OSS projects but you'll have to manage without sh access.
