You can avoid this error by using the older version of
ImageMagick (6.2.5), but then you run into an error on the
addinter statement for libsip in the loader a few lines later.

That second error looks like a problem with the path name
(too many slashes), but correcting the slashes in the loader
file still yields an error when loading the toolbox.

While I appreciate the hard work done by the developers of
this project, even minimal testing would have revealed these
problems and shown that the Windows binary installer version
 of SIP doesn't work.

Hi, everyone!

I'm sorry that I committed a stupid fault. I uploaded a wrong version of SIP Windows installer. The uploaded installer was compiled against *ImageMagick-6.2.6*  instead of 6.2.5. So when load SIP toolbox in Scilab, a loading error of libsip.dll occur . I should be criticized due to my carefullessness.

To SIP developers,
I make a new version of Windows installer, but I cann't access sourgeforge.net recently. So I upload the revised installer to
    http://zhangcheng.johnchain.googlepages.com/home
Could anyone help me to replace the wrong installer when you are free? Thank you a billion!

Hi,

I updated the verison on Sourceforge. Please try downloading it and test it.

Also, note that the right way to post bugs is NOT the siptoolbox-devel list.
Bugs should go to the bug tracker:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=68055&atid=519890

this list is for coordinating developers and discussions.

windows version of SIP: why not put the required dll on the web site ?

by Jocelyn Druel :: Rate this Message:

Reply to Author | View Threaded | Show Only this Message

Hi Everybody,

First of all, congratulations for the hard work done to port SIP to Windows.
Although not very active these days, I'm still interested in the project.

Well, a problem: after downloading the new SIP-windows version, there seems to
be no way to get a proper ImageMagick version (now: 6.2.6) and the SIP
installer stops, complaining that the version is too old (it waits for
6.2.5).

So, my suggestion: why don't you put the correct ImageMagick-dll.exe file on
the SIP space, so that user can simply click and have a working solution ?

The ImageMagick file is about 7Mb, so I don't considerer it's a size problem.

Note, that's it's not the first time I get problem with ImageMagick versions
to make SIP work.

Best regards
Jocelyn

Hi, Jocelyn

Thank you very much for your suggestion. To provide users an easy installation experience is one of the main targets of SIP Windows port. After reading your post, I managed to understand the depandency of ImageMagick's dlls. Now I extract the ImageMagick's dlls from Its full package and load them into Scilab. I'll release a new SIP installer bundled with ImageMagick-6.2.5's dlls in near future. Thereby users no longer need to download the ImageMagick.

Best regards

I'm sorry that I have been extremely busy in preparing my TOEFL exam due in
May 13th. I cannot find spare time to spend on SIP recently. I analysed the
ImageMagick's source code and found that the extraction of ImageMagick's dlls
would not be a simple process. The ImageMagick's dlls contain Windows
Registry and PATH reading operations, so some modifications on the source
code must be done. If anyone else knows better solutions, please let me know.
Thank you!

Hi Zhang,
Your idea of extracting ImageMagick dll is excellent, but time consuming.

So I simply suggest that you put the correct ImageMagick-dll.exe file on
the SIP web page. Users will have to install ImageMagick, but, at least, it
will be a working solution for now.

When you have more time, you can improve the system. At the present time,
installation of SIP for windows just fails because we can't download the
right version of ImageMagick.
Why not replace the link to http://www.imagemagick.org/ in this page
http://siptoolbox.sourceforge.net/devel/windows-port.php
by a link to the real ImageMagick-6.2.5-Q16-dll ?

Best regards
Jocelyn

Thank you very much for your suggestion!

You can download ImageMagick-6.2.5-dll.exe at
http://zhangcheng.johnchain.googlepages.com/ImageMagick-6.2.5-5-Q16-windows-dll.exe

Could someone do me a favor to add the above link into SIP webpage please? It's too hard for me to access SIP's cvs server from China:-(

Hi Zhang,
Your idea of extracting ImageMagick dll is excellent, but time consuming.

Jocelyn
