Fwd: [efax-gtk] dependencies problem when compiling

I'm sending to ML a mail I already sent to Chris Vine's sf.net address
on March, 13rd 2010, as I've not received any response and I guess
maybe mail delivery has not been successful.

------------------ Forwarded message -----------------------------

Hello,

while preparing an update of efax-gtk's build script I maintain since
2008 for www.slackbuilds.org (unofficial Slackware distribution
repository for packages built from source), I've noticed a problem
during compilation regarding gtk_status_icon_set_tooltip_text function
called in src/tray_icon.cpp (line 188), as out of scope: I suppose it
can't be found/retrieved/called by your function.

In http://efax-gtk.sourceforge.net/ you write that efax-gtk needs GTK
2.12 or greater, but I've compiled it successfully with Slackware64
current (testing/in-progress, with GTK 2.18.7) and not in Slackware
13.0 (stable released, with GTK 2.14.2).

I'd say gtk_status_icon_set_tooltip_text has been introduced _after_
GTK 2.12, and, after some searches, I'm pretty sure we are talking
about 2.15/2.16 and later
(see http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/2.15/GtkStatusIcon.html )

Unfortunately, because of this problem I can't upgrade my script
for version 3.2.0 for Slackware 13.0's audience, but whenever Slackware
current will be released as stable (with updated GTK) I will surely do
it (meantime I'll keep my present script for 3.0.20).

Just for you to know.
Anyway, thank you for your great work, and best regards.

Well spotted, thanks for that.

I have put a fix in CVS and I will probably push out a new release
towards the end of the week.

Chris
