Hey all,
Some of you may have heard about or even participated in Music Hack
Day in London this weekend (
http://musichackday.org). I noticed some
chatter on Twitter yesterday between friends at The Echo Nest and The
Hype Machine about possibly doing one here in the states, most likely
in NYC, and I thought it was a great idea. I'd like to help make it
happen.
Hence, I'm reaching out to a bunch of friends and acquaintances who I
thought might be interested -- some just passionate music fans and
hackers and some who also work for, or run, music-related
organizations. Many of you already know each other, but rather than
assume everyone would be comfortable with having their names and email
addresses shared, I've just listed the organizations below.

If you or your organization would be interested in participating or
helping out with the planning, let me know. I'm thinking NYC in late
September or October would be best. If you know of other events that
might conflict, it'd be great to hear about them. As for a venue, I
was planning on reaching out to Clay Shirky about having this hosted
by ITP at NYU since the last BarCamp NYC was hosted there and had 300+
people. But if those of you in NYC have other ideas for a venue, I'm
all ears.
I'm also thinking it'd be cool to mix in a couple other events over
the weekend: a Jelly Talk or panel discussion of some kind, and a
party with live music (bands, DJs, whatever).
Lastly, there are some other organizations it'd be good to reach out
to eventually. If you have connections to any of these or ideas for
other organizations to include, please fire away.
