If I understand your question correctly, there are 2 problems. 1) GRAMPS (the program) is massive you cannot expect to email GRAMPS to anyone, especially if their computer has not previous been setup for python and friends you mention in next question. 2) While GRAMPS can export data in a format that is convenient to move between computers, it does not really support merging of data from multiple sources. There was a recent thread on this topic in the users forum. http://old.nabble.com/Database-Portabilty-Question-to26088525.html > > C. A web page from gramps-project.org/wiki states that programs such as: > > Python2.5.4 > GTK+2.12.9 > pygtk2.12.1 > pygobject2.12.3 > pycairo1.2.6 > > Must be installed before installing GRAMPS in Windows. However if your using Windows then no-one is handling the dependencies for you, you must install them manually. At one stage there was an attempt to make an all-in-one distribution for windows, that would bundle the dependencies with the main code, I don't know what has happened to that project. > > Please advise on the above. > > Thanking you in advance. > > Roy Zirillo Hope the info has been of help, .. if you want to discussion portability issues more I suggest you make contact on the users list, more people listening that will be able to help you.
