Fwd: Southeast LinuxFestHey DULUG,
This showed up in my old Duke inbox today (two years after I graduated and it's still active, very handy). They're looking for some support, but this isn't really my area anymore and I don't think DULUG has a formal structure at the moment. If someone else would like to help them out, please go ahead and post to the list; let me know if you need edit access to the DULUG wiki. Thanks, Andrew Todd (former DULUG president) at@... ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: Southeast LinuxFest Date: 2008 July 19 Saturday From: "Jeremy Sands" <cto@...> To: amt13@... Hello! I am a member of UCLUG. I just wanted to let this LUG know about Southeast LinuxFest, an event being planned by UCLUG. It will be very similar to Ohio LinuxFest, and what LinuxWorld was back when it was in Atlanta. That is to say a very fun, very diverse, and very community oriented Linux convention. But we cannot do this without the support of other LUGs. Before we can even form an entity to handle finances, much less solicit sponsorships, we must have the backing of other LUGs to show that there is demand, enthusiasm, and a potential for a real crowd for this event. That's where you come in. If you guys decide you're in favor of supporting such an event, please step forward and add your LUG to our "LUGS backing this event" page on our wiki. Also, please nominate somebody to serve as a coordinator for your LUG. We need an easy way to keep communication open and coordinate with all the LUGs. We have a wiki and an IRC channel setup, as well as weekly meetings on IRC. I encourage you to participate in both. If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, don't hesistate to use the wiki or join our IRC channel.
