Hi all,

Jos recently mentioned there would be this Gov 2.0 conference in the Washington DC area which was promoting the use of openness and transparency in the United States government.  I followed up with their conference coordinators about getting a booth and after being bounced around a few times I got some useful information from this Jessica person.  Full details are below and in the attachments but the short story is that booths are not free which I think goes against our typical booth policy, right?  This looked to be the cheapest route:

Exhibitor
Booth Space
$50 per sq. ft.
• 100-word description on website and Event Guide; logo included in Event Guide

However in her email below you'll see that she indicated they are going to setup something separate for non-profits which I will follow up on.  Just wanted to provide an update on the thread and see if anyone had any feedback.

Best,
Justin

Hi Justin,

Great to hear from you regarding Gov 2.0 Expo 2010- sorry for the short delay in response but I just got back in from vacation in Europe last night.  Attached please find the exhibitor, sponsorship and floor plan information as you have requested.  We are anticipating between 2500-3500 attendees at the event and are very excited by the responses to our call for papers that is open right now.  Gov 2.0 Expo & Summit 2009 both sold out from an attendee and sponsorship perspective and we are looking forward to a very powerful event in 2010.

We’re also looking at launching some start-up/ non-profit sponsorships in the next couple of months that might be right for you and as soon as I have those I will forward them on.

Once you have a chance to review the attached, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Jessica

Ms Dugandzic,

I am a volunteer from the KDE community (http://kde.org) who works with our promotion team.  I recently found out about the gov2.0 expo and we would love to help you achieve your goals of increasing openness and transparency in government by increasing the number of agencies utilizing free open source operating systems and desktop environments such as KDE on Linux.

Do you have any available booth space?  We would like to be able to setup an area to help inform attendees about what KDE is as well as hand out brochures and free CDs with our software on it.  Please let me know if this would be possible.

Best Regards,
Justin Kirby

This does go against our normal booth policy, yes -- we will probably
have to wait and see how the non-profit stuff works out. Her email also
said that they're sold out from an attendee perspective, so we may have
to see how they handle non-profits w.r.t. that as well.
