G2 OS 1.62 storing performances (bug)

hi All,

I picked up my gear recently after years of inactivity on music due to  
other activities.
One can imagine a lot of updating is required if you last played in  
2005.

Also the G2 could be updated to a newer OS.
I made a jump from 1.40 to 1.62

Probably this topic has been discussed, but what I experience is that  
if I want to save a performance in the G2 itself the machine freezes,  
not all of the time but in most instances.
Is this  a known bug?
is there a workaround or a fix available?

I use an Apple computer with Leopard installed.
