GEN 1 little curiosity

Ciao,
I'm working with a simple instrument that read an audio file via Gen 1. I use a negative gen number (-1) 'cause i want use the original amplitude of sample. The question is : if i use a positive gen num. the amplitude will rescaled in range 0-1, BUT there will be some loss in signal quality ? Or not ?
Again, if i don't need this rescaling, is it better don't use it ?
