The Services WG met on Tuesday July 21 at the GEC. The meeting was well
attended with over 30 participants. Meeting participants and speakers were
asked to address the following sets of questions:
- How are experiments specified in each of the Spiral 1 clusters? What
are the declarative and procedural aspects of this specification?
- How is this specification used by the tool chain available to
experimenters?
- What are the experimenter tools in one cluster that might be ported to
other control frameworks?
- What assumptions do tools make about the control framework? What
assumptions might be specific to their control framework?
Many of the tools described at the meeting were, in principle, control
framework independent though porting them to another control framework would
be non-trivial. However some of the tools described at the meeting have
been demonstrated to work with more than one control framework.
The meeting participants were asked to identify issues that cut across
working groups. Three such cross-cutting issues were identified: RSpecs,
experimenter identity and measurement.
Copies of slides presented at the meeting and the WG outbrief on
cross-cutting issues are at

I thank all who participated in this meeting and encourage those who could
not attend to peruse the slides at the above URL.
