DigitalGlobe: WorldView-2 / WorldView-2 Earth-Imaging Satellite

Auf der NATO-GIS-Konferenz DGI.CEE-2009, Prag: 29./30.09.2009 informierte J.W. ALLAN, Director of European Sales Defense&Intelligence, von DIGITALGLOBE (USA) ueber den bevorstehenden Start des neuen Mapping-Satelliten Worldview-2 sowie dessen technologischen Parameter, insbesondere die neuen, von 4 auf 8 erweiterten multispektralen Sensoren. Der Start soll am 8. Oktober live im Internet uebertragen werden.

На 8 октября 2009 г. запланирован запуск нового спутника компании DigitalGlobe WorldView-2. Спутник будет поставлять снимки с разрешением 0,5 м в панхроматическом режиме и 2 м ≈ в мультиспектральном, причем число спектральных диапазонов увеличено с традиционных 4 до 8, что намного улучшит качество снимков и возможности их анализа. Четыре дополнительных спектральных диапазона (coastal blue, yellow edge, red edge, и near infrared 2) позволят улучшить дешифрирование и анализ снимков, значительно увеличат возможности идентификации и классификации объектов. Коммерческая эксплуатация WorldView-2 может начаться уже в 4-м квартале 2009 г., после чего компания DigitalGlobe получит возможность параллельно снимать Землю с помощью трех спутников высокого разрешения: QuickBird, WorldView-1 и WorldView-2. Общая суточная производительность системы составит 2,7 млн кв. км.

Boeing through its commercial launch business is supporting the launch of DigitalGlobe's WorldView-2 satellite aboard a Delta II rocket procured from United Launch Alliance (ULA). The launch is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 11:38 a.m. Pacific time from Vandenberg, AFB, Calif.
WorldView-2 is the first high-resolution 8-band multispectral satellite commercially available. The new bands support greater levels of feature identification and extraction, more accurate change detection, and a realistic mirror image of the world's natural colors.
