Initial Comment:
The buttons in an IM window stay highlighted sometimes
if the mouse pointer leaves the window quickly.

To reproduce:
In an IM window, put the mouse pointer over a button
that highlights. Now, move the mouse pointer quickly
out of the window. Sometimes, the highlight sticks.
Not 100% reliable.

100% reproducible: Gaim v1.1.1; WinXP

1. Mouseover a buddy, wait for tooltip to appear.
2. Alt-Tab to make another window active.
3. Tooltip not removed until Gaim is foreground again, and
mouse moves over Gaim window.

My thoughts...

Disabling tooltips might be a good idea, as long as the gaim
team are prepared to wear a bunch of 'tooltips don't work' bugs.

As far as I can see, there are two solutions. Release note
(tooltips buggy due to winGTK issue, see URL...), or a
preference (which itself should be marked by a release note
;) ).

Could we please please have an option in preferences to just
turn tooltips off all together?

Using Win2k Pro, Gaim 0.62, GTK 2.2.1.

Problem still exists and is very annoying. It may not be
Gaim's fault, but an option to turn off tooltips would be Super!

Gtk only uses 3 number versions.. e.g: 2.2.1. The fourth
number is added on by the installer creater. So Dropline's
2.2.1, 2.2.1.1 and 2.2.1.2 all use the GTK+ 2.2.1 release,
which means that nothing will have changed as regards to
bugs.

My goodness .. there is a lot of chatter here :)

It seems some of you are not clear on what is a GTK bug and
what is a Gaim bug. If you look in the summary of this report
you'll see "GTK+ Bug:" at the beginning :). I relabeled all the

bugs which are Win GTK+ bugs in this manor. If you don't
trust this, then I suggest you go to
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/query.cgi and check yourself.

Win GTK+ is a work in progess just as Win Gaim is, and the
more apps use Win GTK+ the more bugs will be identified,
reported and fixed. Some of you may remember the signon
bug, where in order to complete a protocol signon process
the user had to move his pointer around within a Gaim
window.. Well, that was a GTK+ bug.. I reported, it got fixed
and eventually Win Gaim included a GTK+ release that
included that fix.. This is how open source development
goes.. and for those that don't have the patience fot this
process I suggest you buy your software.

Bottom line.. no more speculation on this bug please.. This is

I would not worry about fixing this in the Linux version. I
originally encountered the defect in v0.60 of Linux Gaim,
and even then it was difficult to reproduce. I have seen the
error manifest itself in v0.61, however, it is somewhat of a
Heisenbug. It is such a minor issue to begin with and the
inability to adequately reproduce the bug proves that this
bug doesn't merrit much attention for Linux. It is the file
transfer and direct IM features that most Linux users I know
of have issues with. These are the aspects that deserve most
attention.

However, if a solution is found for the Windows version, it
may be the case that a similar solution will apply to Linux.
Furthermore, in my opinion disabling tooltips altogether is
an unsatisfactory solution.

First of all, let me clearify. I am not an official gaim
developer.
Secondly, no one knows for sure if dragging of buddies, file
transfer are GTK-win issues (in fact, I am fairly sure that
file transfer isn't).
Third, I am not able to reproduce it on linux, and am
waiting for the only person who claimed to be able to do so
to tell me how, as I said in a post earlier.
Fourth, you can set the buttons on the IM window to show labels.
Lastly, I don't think disabling the tooltip is a solution.
It is just hiding the problem.

I don't consider this an argument, as it seems you might be
taking it to be one-I'm actually trying to come up with
possible workarounds to the issue. if you're a designer and
would prefer to wait until the GTK architects release a less
buggy windows version, that's your perogative. It would
resolve a lot of winGAIM's existing issues without having to
do anything or even offer any workarounds to the problem. If
you believe that to be acceptable, then close the bug report,
and the one about arranging buddies, and the one regarding
using GAIM alongside AIM, and the one about file transfer
capabilities. I'm sure there are more that can be closed, as
well. If this issue has been reproduced in linux, as many
commenters here have said, then is waiting for GTK to come
out with a new version still a viable solution, or will you
have to investigate another "workaround" for the linux users
as well?

In the meantime, turning off the tooltips is an option; not
just including an option to disable them. Adding a contextual
menu option to see the information in the tooltips(perhaps
added to the user info screen) is another thing gaim could do
in the place of the tooltips. If you're willing to
investigate options instead of being inflammatory and
obstinate, then perhaps we can all help the designers come up
with "actual solutions."

In the meantime, I would love to get my hands on the windows
source for GTK and GAIm to see if I can help. Some of us
wouldn't complain about it if we weren't ready to actually
assist.

fair enough-that I didn't know.

The rest of the comment stands; implimenting an option to
turn them off just to try and get around the bug would do
just as well as removing the "feature" entirely. And
regardless; there are several bugs in winGAIM that are
because the gtk runtime environment wasn't designed for
windows; if every one of those bugs is going to be passed off
and attritubuted to the GTK environment, then imho the
application as a whole will suffer. The option to do that,
however, is completely the choice of the designers.

The bug is reproducable in winGAIM again by following the
steps that everyone else has posted. It remains an issue, and
I think all of us who have seen it look forward to an actual
solution. I'll see what I can do to help.

Before 0.60 the gtk runtime is bundled with the installer.

Speaking for winGAIM, this issue has persisted from .59 to
the .60 alpha versions and now in .61; the issue is easily
duplicated there using the steps that elentar posted earlier
today. For this reason, I doubt it's a GTK issue; since the .59
and .60alphas didnt require the runtime environment in
windows.

Furthermore, disabling tooltips entirely I don't think is an
adequate solution, since they are useful and if you put in an
option to disable them just to get around the bug you may as
well just take them out entirely. It should be a relatively
simple matter to not have the tooltips remain when off-focus.
I'll investigate some more to try and come up with something
that'll help to accompany my grumbling. ^_^

GTK+. I am using gaim v0.61 in RedHat Linux and I have been

Installed v0.61 today, repeated test case and experienced the
same behavior. Recap:

1) Launch gaim, move mouse over button and wait for tooltip.

2) Alt-tab to another application.

3) Tooltip remains visible until Alt-tabbing back to Gaim or

clicking on the tooltip.

For what it's worth, this seems likely to be a bug in the Win32
implementation of GTK, so I don't know if it's worth the trouble
to keep tracking it as part of Gaim. Perhaps just an option to
disable tooltips entirely would be sufficient.

I have also noticed the same thing in gaim v0.60. I just
installed v0.61 and have been unable to replecate the bug.
However, this doesn't mean that the bug has been fixed
because as I remember, it was very obscure even in v0.60.

the same here. The bug (tooltip dont go away) also occurs when
a window popup while tooltip is visible

with 0.60a5 i had to click to make it go away, now i just
have to pass the mouse over it

This still happens in the latest version, BTW. Also, you can
reproduce by putting the mouse over a Gaim button, then
alt-tabbing to another app. The tooltip will remain until you
switch back to Gaim or click on it with the mouse.

This may be a GTK bug. I have "Raise Window" checked in
the preferences. When a message arrives, the
conversation window raises above other GTK windows, but
it stays under native windows. The title bar blinks, as
it should.

Another note - when taskbar is set to auto-hide, it actually
raises the task bar and blinks, which is the correct
behavior. However, as stated before, when taskbar is
permanenmtly on screen, nothing happens. I think it should
be blinking...

OK, so I went and recompiled GAIM, and recompiled GDK (not
GTK, though - GTK is a much harder nut to crack). I traced
the raising of windows to the Windows API call. And that
call does not work. No way no how. The end result of my
investigation is a 60-lines GTK sample that demonstrates the
brokennes independently of GAIM. I'll try to submit it to
the GTK authors. Any tips on how to doit would be
appreciated. Or may be someone can submit the code for me...

THe problem is back with 1.0.1 (actually, it returned in
1.0.0). I do have the version of GTK that comes with 1.0.1

(Keep in mind, for testing this you must not have any AIM
windows on top - placing buddy list or ticker in a toolbar
makes the problem go away)

Another note: when raising of windows worked, did you have a
docked buddy list that was always on top? That keeps a GTK
window in topmost position, and raising the IM window works.

still be a GTK+ bug that only happens in certain situations.

As of Gaim .75 this is still an issue... if one window of
GAIM is active, others will raise properly, even above
non-gtk windows. However if no GAIM windows are currently
focused, windows do not get raised properly. In this case
the task bar sometimes blinks but sometimes doesn't.
Wouldn't be a big problem except that I miss incoming
messages when I have the sound turned off! I'd like to be
able to rely on visual notification.

Summary: Gaim can open windows off-screen if screen-size changes

Initial Comment:
gaim remembers the size and position of windows,
including error messages and notification popups. Run
an X session with a smaller screen size - e.g. if I
start my laptop without the external monitor the
desktop is 1024x768 instead of 1600x1200 - and the gaim
notification windows all come up off the bottom of the
screen.

Some window mamagers (e.g. sawfish) can move such
windows back onto the screen; gaim should do this
automatically by checking the screen size.

I don't beleive that this is a gaim bug.

It seems that it would be the WM's problem because it would
be the only thing saving window locations (apart from the
buddy list).

Well the buddy list now repositions itself if the resolution
changes and it goes off screen. This is really great under
terminal services, where it's very common to change
resolutions depending on where you're RDPing from.

the only window we place at all is the buddy list. the
placement of all other windows is entirely up to your window
manager (unless of course gtk is doing something we aren't
aware of).

Summary: gaim dosnt fill in background for last character

Initial Comment:
When ever im typing in gaim with my text red and the
background black the last letter does not get its
background to be black. If for example I type "test"
"tes" will be red text with a black background but "t"
will be red text on a white back ground. After a few
seconds of waiting though the hole thing does turn
black. It gets very annoying. I filed this in the
gentoo
bugzilla(http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48816)
and they told me to go here.

I am having a smiliar problem with my program. It only
happens in my program if I apply tags from within a
"changed" signal of GtkTextBuffer. It works fine if I apply
the tags somewhere else. Just wanted to give a heads-up in
case it's the same problem. (If it is, you should add a
comment to the gtk bug indicating that it's due to the text
changed callback)

I'm suspecting gtk as well. But as it is, I can't seem to
find another gtk app that applies a tag with background
color support, so it's not really testable.. When I was
running gtk 2.2.4 it only happened if I flooded it. And it
still wasn't consistent.

That dosnt happen to me. No matter what character in what
case I type the last character always has no background for
a few seconds. I dont know what other GTK 2.4.x app use the
same kina text input with back grounds and such as gaim. I
was thinking we could test other GTK 2.4.x apps and see if
they have the same problem. I am a programmer myself and it
seems more and more like a problem with GTK but ive only
seen it in gaim.

I just installed gtk 2.4.1 and I can reproduce this but I've
found some inconsistency with it... First off normal
characters [a-z][A-Z][0-9] are fine.. and while characters
like '[' are fine their shifted chars '{' seem to have the
same problem. So in short it seems to be a problem with
handling the shift key.. but it also happens with space, so
I'm not sure where we want to go with this..

Initial Comment:
If I hover above a name long enough for an info window
to pop up. And then double click the name to initiate
chat, and my chat window is large enough to cover the
buddy list. Then the "popup info" gets "stuck" on top of
everything. And it doesn't go away. It will stay there
indefinatly. The only way to make it go away is to bring
the buddy list back on top of everything else. and then
hover the mouse above someone elses name, and then
move it over the boundy of the buddy list.

The problem is that the popup info of users only
disappears when the mouse crosses the boundy of that
user's name. However, if I open something up the covers
that boundry, i have to reenter it and leave it again for
it to disappear (instead of it disappearing after X
seconds of not hovering above that name).

Its annoying to have that float above everything, and it
can stay there indefinatly. With the fact gaim brings up
the info popup so quickly, I ALWAYS get one when I
attempt to initiate a chat session with someone, and
always have to go and get rid of it.

In the picture attached, you can see the box containing
info about a guy whose nick is "ubermouser". It will
remain there, covering up my chat window, indefinatly.
This is a picture of my whole screen (i did not crop it to
show just the relevant parts. just so you understand
what is going on better, this is after all a placement
issue), it happens because I stretched the chat box to
cover the buddy list. The bug never occurs if I dont let
it cover it (which is prolly why it wasnt found yet).

The bug also doesnt occur if I use alt+F4 to close the
buddy list but did not open a window. However, If I did
open a new window, and then I use either alt+f4 or in
another other way close the buddy list without ever
hovering any of the contacts in it (just the boundries of
it, and the X button for example), it will not go away.

our installer distributes it, and a couple other things like
aspell, as a convience, but were you on unix you would get
gtk separately. gtk is developed at gtk.org, it is a general
toolkit for creating graphical interfaces with. on win32,
gimp (gimp.org) also uses it.

technically the earliest one would be over a 600000 numbered
one, amost 400000 bugs earlier than yours. but they were
mistakenly closed anyway, the policy on this tracker is
different from the other trackers, since the resolution does
not depend on gaim's development, but on gtk's.

Initial Comment:
When you keep your mouse over a certain screen name, it
will give you the buddy status (screen name, warning
level, idle time) a lot of the time (several times a
day) that status will stay on your screen even when the
buddy list is no longer on your screen. The only way
to get rid of it is to re-click on your buddy list and
it goes away. Once you are not focused on that window
anymore, it should go away.

When I go to the gaim menu bar ocassionaly (50%) the
dropdown or sub menus are placed randomly accross my
screen.

When mousing over buddie icons on my list the
informational pop-up is split into 4 parts (looks like
it has a cross in it)

I've uploaded screen shots to:

I've previously was using a defalt version .79 intall
of gaim and it was working fine. I fully uninstalled
GTK and Gaim and tried installing version 1.0.0. I had
these problems so I tried fully uninstalling it and
tried installing GTK seperatly from gaim, installing
GTK version 2.4.7-rev-a first then version 1.0.0-no-gtk.

steps to reproduce is accurate.

Currently gaim is set up with only a jabber account. The very
first time I installed, I did also set up an AIM account - but I
then got rid of that to eliminate it as a source of the error. I
can't find any trace of it in the registry.

This is a known issue that is caused by a bug in the GTK
(the bug has been reported already).

I beleive that is the GTK bug that is causing it:

This bug is a new bug created to triage the two bugs
found listed in bug #1008213.

This bug is to deal with "problem #2" described in that
bug:

2. Occasionally after mousing over a users name and
getting the popup information box, it will "stick" in place
on top of all other things and not go away unless show
desktop is pressed. Non-reproduceable and random.

Additionally, I have found this problem with many
"popup" style windows. Holding the mouse pointer over
an hyperlink, for example, will create a small window
containing the actual URL contained in the hyperlink.

I only use the AOL Instant messenger functions in GAIM,
so it might be restricted to the AIM portion of the code.

Steps to recreate bug:

1. Open a different program and maximize the window.
1. load GAIM. Connect to AIM (whatever login you desire)
2. add a user to your buddy list who is signed on (or
use one that's already there).
3. place the mouse pointer over the user's name. Wait
for pop up containing user info / online time / idle time.
4. Once the user info pop up shows up, do an "alt-tab"
to the other program you loaded in step #1.
5. See that the "user info pop up" has not gone away.
There's nothing you can do to make that window go away
except give any gaim window focus and roll the mouse
over it.

Ok. So I'm a moron. The above steps to recreate the bug do
not work.

Replace step 4 with "Once the user info pop up shows up,
move the mouse pointer from the gaim window to the other
program window."

Note that the bug won't display if any of the following
happens while you move the mouse away from gaim:

1. you move the mouse pointer over the popup
2. as you move the pointer, you can't have the pointer
change from the arrow to the double arrow (change
width/height of the window, looks like this: <-> ) on the
edge of the gaim window.

To make sure that you don't do #2, you have to move the
mouse quickly so that the mouse pointer skips over the edge
of the gaim window boundary. It might take a few tries to
get the timing correct.

Ok. I think i'm done now.

I'm running windows 2000 professional with all the windows
updates / hotfixes (as of the date of this message) and
Gaim 0.81

I downloaded and installed the "gaim-encryption v0.81" (not
gaim-e) plugin. Currently active are the "auto-reconnect",
"buddy state notification", "gaim-encryption", and "system
tray icon" plugins.

I am not running the super-latest version of gaim because
the gaim-encryption plugin has not been updated (yet) to
support gaim 0.82.

I haven't tried pre-compiled versions of gaim.

another icon, you have to make a selection for it to go

Whenever I start gaim up after installing it, it runs fine
(on the first run).

Every time I open the program afterwards I would get
the following error:

gaim.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into
drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR7.

My options are cancel, try again, or continue. cancel or
continue make it load as usual. try again just brings up
the same message again and again until I clock one of
the other two.

This stayed after a reformat and reinstall of windows
(which I performed when I got a new, third, HDD).

I am using windows XP, SP2 (although I beleive I even
had it with SP1).

It has existed for the past 5 or so versions of giam, but I
recall a time when it wasnt there.

I have 3 harddrives, all formated as FAT32 partitions.
Windows is installed on a 20 gig drive. C:
D: is 160GB
E: is 160GB

I tried installing gaim on C or on D and it didnt matter.

the motherboard.

I don't have a removeable device.
WinXP misrecognizes my built in USB as a removeable device.
And I have an internal digital card reader (the type used in
cameras), the bays of which are considered by windows as
removeable HDDs.

Those are all built in. So I cannot remove them.

I'm using the latest Gaim v1.0.0 with an updated GTK
on a Windows 2000 machine.

When using AOLs IM:

On the "Buddy List" window I click on a Buddy, and the
second window comes-up. There is no default focus to the
lower TextArea. Even if I place the curser there and
click, nothing.. No focus at all. The only way I've
found to get it to get focus is to hit the "Font Face"
button, hit "OK" on the
dialog and THEN it gets focus.

If a Buddy sends me a message, which opens the second
window, it gets focus fine.

This same thing was happening on the previous version
.8? I was using.

Everything else seems okay.

It would be great if you could fix this issue.

This may be the bug regarding the cursor not showing up,
which is a GTK bug. In that case, you can still type, but
you cannot see where the cursor is.

I have Mozilla Firefox 1.0pr as my default browser
(this happened with .9 as well). Whenever I open a link
from gaim whether it be from a conversation or from a
user profile, the url tooltip box remains on the screen
after the page is loaded and "sticks" to the page that

Hiya, I was just reorganizing my buddy list and it's a
bit difficult because I click and drag the name and the
pop-up with the user info keeps popping-up right over
the folder I want to drag the name too. Seems like the
name pop-ups should all be disappeared and disabled
when dragging begins. What A Drag.

I'm using win2ksp4 if that's of any help.

Just converted to GAIM with the 1.0 release, trillian's

This is a GTK bug caused by having some sort of removeable
storage that isn't connected (USB card, HDD, Zip, etc).

It is also a duplicate.

Summary: dual display problem with im window

Initial Comment:
When I open an IM conversation window on my hp omnibook
6100 operating in dual display mode (ATI driver), the
im window opens on the secondary window (the laptop
display) at the top left such that the title bar is off
the top of the screen. I can't grab it to move it to
the main panel, nor can I "alt-spacebar" to move it.
Secondary display is running smaller than primary
(1024x768 and 1200x1024 respectively). Strangely
enough, when i start NetMeeting, the window pops down
off the top and I can then move it.

I reported this as a bug because this behavior only occurs
in later versions of gaim. The earlier ones either
remembered the location, or opened the windows somewhere in
the middle of the screen.

As I recall version 1.0 back to when I started using gaim on
windows (about 0.7x), was ok.

When a program creates multiple windows without a given
position, Windows positions each window in a cascading
order. The topmost window is at the top left corner of the
"visible area", the screen minus the taskbar. It does this
even if the taskbar is on the left or on top of the screen.
(I'm observing this on Win98, but I doubt this has changed
at all in XP/2000.)

Notepad (on Win98) creates windows that cascade. Buddy
pounce popups and Get Info windows also cascade correctly;
none of these open underneath a taskbar placed at the top of
the screen.

It looks like Gaim or GTK is telling Windows to always
position new conversation/chat windows at (0,0) (top left
corner) of the screen. It doesn't cascade and it doesn't
take into account the visible area. Assuming Gaim is calling
the correct GTK function correctly, this means this is a GTK
bug.

This could be related to the multiple monitors GTK bug
(conversation windows placed at the top left of the total
screen resolution, physically offscreen); I don't know
enough to say for sure.

Some people have suggested saving the conversation window
position as a solution to this bug. I think getting the
windows to cascade properly in the visible area should be
the solution. If people still want the position saved, they
should find the RFE for that and add a comment.

A workaround for now (and this applies to all software that
places resizable windows underneath the taskbar when it is
at the top, in XP and 2k): click once anywhere on the
window's border. This makes Windows resize the window such
that about 4 pixels of the title bar become visible below
the taskbar, and you can then drag the window out from under
the taskbar.

(this one is filed away in the "someone needs to borrow a
Mac" dept., along with being able to windowshade (for rapid
visual access to the window below) and being able to move
and operate inactive windows by holding a key down. I'm not
blaming any gaim devels for this one though, of course)

When typing a message in the chat window, there is no
vertical bar indicating where text being typed is going
to appear. Text appears as expected, but if you move

as the Accounts dialog for adding new accounts; this

Some more testing on this: The cursor is only gone when you
originate the conversation by double-clicking a contact's
name in the contact list. If someone sends you a message,

This isn't severe in the least... steps to reproduce
(on my machine anyway)

double click on IM name = invisible cursor
right click on name, select IM = visible cursor
recieve msg = visible cursor

In the IM window with the invisible cursor, I can make
the cursor visible by minimizing and restoring the window.

my machine:
win2k SP4
it's a development machine, so it has tons of wonderful
things on it that could potentially cause problems...

I'll provide hardware information if anyone needs it,
but it doesn't seem relevant in this case.

notes:
- I did allow the gtk update when I installed 1.0.0...
- this problem existed in the previous version as well
as this version (.82 I think...)

And it seems it still stays with us in v1.0.2 with GTK 2.4.10
rev b. May be avoided by changing focus to another window
and then back to the desired IM window. I have to remark,
though, that the cursor is not fully invisible, there's a pixel
flashing in the upper part of the presumed cursor position, if
that may be of help to someone...

The browser I am using is Mozilla 1.7.3, the gaim
version is 1.0.0 and I am running on windows 2000.
This occure every time, but if I restore gaim again and
then minimize it the textstring is gone.

When starting gaim I get the following warning:

Es befindet sich kein Datentr�ger im Laufwerk. Legen
sie einen Datentr�ger in Laufwerk
\Device\Harddisk3\DR11 ein.

(English: There ist no disk in drive. Please insert
disk into drive \Device\Harddisk\DR11.)

This only occurs using gaim with Windows (I am using
XP) and does not occur directly after installing it.
When pressing 'continue' gaim works quite fine. Still
this is very anoying and makes me worry if there ist
something wrong with it.

Initial Comment:
Symptom: User info (default on-mouse-over in Buddy
list) stays on top of screen when user type new
message for someone from buddy list.

Workabout:
Windows XP Professional SP2, Czech env.
Gaim 1.0.1, but also in 1.0.0 (not sure about other
previous versions), Czech language
Plugins (I use czech language so names are my guess):
- Autoconnect 1.0.1 (all checked)
- History 1.0.1
- Systray icon 1.0.1 (not checked checkbox)
- Iconify when Away 1.0.1
- WinGaim 1.0.1 (only last checkbox checked)
- Idleness setting 1.0.1
- Nofitication about new version 1.0.1
Repeat bug:
a) double click on systray icon, buddy list appears
b) in Buddy list, wait for user info to appear, double click
on that user to send message
c) type something, User detail stays still on top,
preventing to see message window corectly
d) switch back to buddy list, usr info disappear

NOTICE: same bug is appearing when following URL in
message - URL address (hover message) stays on top
somewhere on screen

Initial Comment:
The ToolTip window that pops up when the mouse hovers
over a buddy is TOO persistent. It remains on top of
other apps, even when GAIM no longer has focus.

I'm running Win2000 SP4, in case you need that.

Summary: floating names in buddy list

Initial Comment:
Hi

In windows version of gaim, sometimes when you move
the mouse over a buddy and away from it, that
particular screen name gets "struck" floating there
even when gaim is minimised to the system tray.

You will have to move back to the buddy list over the
name to make it disappear again. It seems to occur very
randomly and I am not able to reproduce the behaviour
with any specific patterns.

I would try and get a screenshot next time

Running Gaim 1.0 on Windows XP (SP1). App works
great, except occasionally the pop-up window from a
buddy detail (for example, an AIM buddy) will stick around
on the foreground of the display even after the buddy list
is minimized, and there's no way to get rid of it until you
bring Gaim BACK to the foreground, and click off of that
particular buddy.

this is a GTK+ bug, not a Gaim bug.

I know its very annoying but maybe the developers working on
the GTK+ will get it fixed soon, as for now you can do what
I do. And that is, change my tool_tip_delay time in.

If you go to your prefs.xml file stored in your ~.gaim file
located at:

[drive]:\Documents and Settings\[computer
username]\Application Data\.gaim\prefs.xml

Scroll down to where you see this line of code:
<pref name='tooltip_delay' type='int' value='500' />

You can either change it something lower, or change it to 0
and it won't display the tool_tip.
