Hi Bertrand,

There haven't been updates for some time. I suspect that the
"official" project is dead. On the other hand, I've maintained a local
version that is at 2.28.1 for the most part. Several things don't work,
and the build needs a lot of hand holding; nonetheless, I can send you a
tar file if you'd like.

Possible help on 2.28 version ?

Hello,
i've just subscribed to the list because i've seen there are some
tries to update garnome to the 2.28 version of gnome.
Is there already a testable version ? Should i clone a git repo of garnome ?

I've been maintaining a local up to date of the git master of garnmome.
By that I mean, I'm using the most recent releases of all the garnome
apps and have added new dependencies. I can tar things up for you if
you'd like.

Garnome for 2.26/2.28

Good Hello,
Since it seems that there isn't activity going on in GARNOME, I
figured I'd start working on getting it all up to speed for the 2.28
release. If I get it working, can someone please commit it to the git
trunk and make sure it gets tarballed? I just want to make sure that I
don't work on it and then it not get posted :-S

On the other hand a make install finishes…but I end up with no gnome-desktop (and who knows what else)…plus the dependencies appear to snowball and I can’t build the tools my team is asking for.

I started looking into other PolicyKit errors and similar ones seemed to trace back to the dbus and inotify packages. I built them from source (to /usr/local…just can’t touch the main libs), and even with PKG_CONFIG_PATH pointing to my shiny new dbus, PolicyKit and I-notify tools, it seems to have no bearing on the result.

Upon reading further I saw that the issue may actually get down to HAL, and that I may need to patch the kernel! I don’t know if this is acceptable…and I am hoping that there is simply some way that I can gracefully either build around polkit/PolicyKit (same thing?) or cut it out altogether. I’m really only interested in some of the ‘hacker-tools’ for some coders that I’m working with…and in all honesty building all of the dependencies by hand has made me a mad man for the last two weeks. If GARNOME works it will truly be a godsend for us!

Indeed, sorry about that. As David mentioned, I've been busy -- also
missing my co-maintainer and build machines...

Mar 18 is quite unlikely IMHO, since there's a lot more than simply
bumping versions. However, seeing some synergy and offers (Thanks! :-)
only within a few hours is encouraging! I'd be happy to get GARNOME up
to speed again soon-ish, with some more man-power -- though more likely
after the upcoming dot zero release.

I do agree that GARNOME at this point shouldn't be mentioned prominently
in the release announcements, since it isn't an option to build GNOME
right now. Maybe adjust to "coming soon" instead. I'll think about the
future the next days.

Karsten has been busy, so there's been no activity for some time. On
the other hand, I've been updating various components of garnome's
gnome, successfully, for the most part. It should be relatively easy to

Obamas chief handler is David Axelrod, a radical Jewish Zionist whose previous claim to fame was the fact that he was the Zionist political hit man against Illinois Senator Charles Percy, who was not deemed to be pro-Israel enough. (He was only 99.9 percent Israels lackey, not the required 100 percent) Obama went to Israel and made sure he pronounced himself even more radically pro-Zionist than Bush or McCain.

2) Massive amounts of Jewish money

Obamas campaign was kicked in high gear by Jewish Hollywood and financial moguls. In just one of the early fundraising parties in Hollywood by Spielberg, Geffen and Katzenburg it raised over a million dollars for Obama. Obama raised more money than any political candidate in American history and his biggest contributors were overwhelmingly Jewish activists, Jewish international finance and banking firms and Jewish globalists. His largest single contributor was the international Jewish Banking firm of Goldman Sachs. He received more money from the same international bankers that ripped off trillions of dollars in the recent economic scandals than even John McCain. Is a man totally under the power of the most powerful financial organizations in the entire world, really an agent of ''change?''

3) Overwhelming positive support in the Jewish-dominated media

By a large margin, Jewish-owned media officially endorsed Obama, and that is not counting tens of thousands of positive articles by Jewish; owned publications and pundits.

Obamas first act as President-elect was to appoint a Jewish extremist, dual citizen, Rahm Emmanuel, as his chief of staff. As the people of Gaza were slaughtered, Obama would not make a single statement to stop this murder and maiming of thousands of innocents!

Israel, very carefully timed its terrorist attack on Gaza to be in the remaining days of the Bush Administration. The day before Obamas inauguration Israel announced that it would be completely out of Gaza by the time Obama took his oath of office.

Why?

Before Obama took office, Israel could make this terrorist slaughter against Palestinians and Obama would still be perceived as having clean hands. Because Obama is completely under their control, they want him to have an image of fairness, honor and peacefulness, and as representing a new direction of American policy, as he begins to deal with the Mideast turmoil.

Since he is Israels boy in the White House, what better scenario could they have than a President perceived as practically the Second Coming, of high moral conviction, and dedicated to fairness, but who is actually bound hand-and-foot to the Zionist agenda, just as the last presidents have been. Talk about a perfect shill. And the game is working, for even many Palestinians are filled with hope that the new President will work to end their long suffering.

With an almost godlike positive image around the world, a Barack Obama who is in reality controlled by Israel, is a much bigger danger than was even George Bush. We know what Bush is, but too many Americans and other peoples around the world are falling for the lies about the new ''savior'' of the world: Barack Obama. He already says we are to put thousands of new troops in Afghanistan and has rattled the sabers against Iran. Obama with highest positive image (created by media) in the world is in a more dangerous position to lead us into catastrophic wars than George Bush ever was.

Jewish screenwriters in Hollywood couldnt have written a better script for the Zionist agenda than what is being played out on inauguration day, USA.

Please describe the problem:
Due to I found problems building the bootstrap/Firefox from librsvg/Makefile I
tried to comment the Firefox voice from librsvg/Makefile
Then make it and the result was a fully successful.

I propose to remove as dependence from librsvg/Makefile due to huge
requirements by Firefox (compile time and final space occupation).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Remove firefox deps from librsvg/Makefile
2. make into librsvg/Makefile
3. success

Actual results:
Everything works

That error just means, that the actual build of a garball failed. It
does not show the actual error, nor even which application it was.
Please paste the entire error message that you get by re-running the
build (paranoid-install) just like you did before.

I realize copy-n-pasting the (possibly quite long) full error message
might not be that easy cause you're blind. If that's too hard to do,
feel free to just get a full log and either send it to the list or to me
directly (preferred, the list got a message size limit). You should be
able to get everything using this command

make paranoid-install > paranoid.log 2>&1

run from the same directory you used before -- which I hope is desktop/
in the GARNOME build tree. ;) Then attach paranoid.log to the email.

Hello there,

i am new to using Garnome and have read the faq, the man page, and also
the README file provided in the Garnome-2.24.0 directory. However, I am
coming up empty handed on this one. Here is what the error says:

king1 *** paranoid-install error 2

Can some one help me to understand what this error means and what I need
to do? I am building this on a Ubuntu Hardy distro with Gnome 2.4.22
but I don't want the new Ubuntu because it's still a bit unstable for me
but I want the new gnome as I am blind and need the accessibility
features it provides. Thanks very much.

DEPRECATE desktop/evolution-data-server dependencies in desktop/gnome-panel
because it is not strictly necessary to build a fully functionally gnome-panel
binaries.
To test just delete the voice desktop/evolution-data-server from the LIBDEPS in
desktop/gnome-panel/Makefile and you'll build a fully functionally gnome-panel
environment.
This prevent to add entropy during build step due to heavy evolution
dependencies tracking stuffs.
My solution should be to provide into Makefile a commented alternative like
this:
