Gas not making it to the combustion chamber

The gen EF 1000 IS has been sitting unused for about 2 years and no I did not drain the gas - my bad. I have added fresh gas and a carburetor cleaner to the fuel tank. The plug is firing and the fuel line to the carb has gas in it. The engine will run if I spray starting fluid into the filter (which I have cleaned) then stops as if no fuel is making it to the combustion chamber. Do I let it sit and soak the stuck/plugged part or tear into the carb? Any thoughts are welcome.

this is one of the symptoms of a partially blocked jet..

quick fix is drain the carby bowl with the included carby float bowl drain hole that not all of it's competitors have... and then using a flat edged screw driver pry the carby's fuel line off t's holder and manually blow down the line...this can all be done by removing only the sidecover... clean the plug too

a longer fix is clean/rinse the fuel tank lines and carby bowl, blow out carby lines, scrub-up magneto etc...

The EF1000is doenst need 15 pulls to fill the furel lines, just fill the tank and wait for four-five minutes
