Getting rid of ring tone between SPA3102 and Asterisk

Dont know how to explain this clearly but I ll try my best.

I have my phone connected to an SPA3102 which in turn registers onto Asterisk as a client/user.

When I dial out with my phone, the SPA 3102 dials asterisks and then asterisk dials the number out via the SPA3102(but under a different user/line ).

The problem is in the first stage of the dial between the SPA3102 and asterisk...I get a ringing tone(just once).(Can't figure out where it is coming from? but I think asterisks sends this to the SPA3102 when the SPA3102 connects to it but I not sure).

Has anyone experienced this and how do I get rid this of this tone ?

and after this , after another slight pause ,I then get the real ringing tone(French ringing tone, live in France) from my local exchange.

Thanks
Chib

A quick guess would be to check that "VoIP Answer Delay" is set to zero
on the SPA under Admin Login > Advanced > Voice > PSTN Line.

If that's not the answer, then it would help us to help you if you post

a) the relevant bits of your Asterisk dialplan

and

b) the "Dial Plans" and "VoIP-To-PSTN Gateway Setup" from the same page
as above in the SPA3102 setup?

Drew

I have a similar setup and I get this to, although I don't mind it.
What seems to happen here is that the nslu2 is sometimes a bit slow
answering the sip call from the spa3102. while the spa3102 is waiting
for the call to be answered, it plays a ring sound.  asterisk will
also play rings while waiting for a transfer, for instance if the
spa3102 fxo port takes a long time to answer.  i think it is normal
behavior when handing off calls between devices.
there might be a setting on the sipura to be silent while waiting on
the nslu2, that may be a solution for your issue.
good luck.
