Gmail suppressing quotesHello,
Since a while I'm occasionally getting lines like these > [5 quoted lines suppressed] instead of the full quote from Gmail. It seems to happen if I don't download (POP) the email for a few days and have more than a certain (unknown) threshold of messages or total data or so. Does anybody know how to make Gmail send the full quoted text all the time? Re: Gmail suppressing quotesHow do you know it's gmail and not your client?
Btw, what client are you using? It looks like 40tude? I've never seen such behavior from gmail, and unless you're sending via the web, quoting has nothing to do with gmail. Re: Gmail suppressing quotesIf I understand the problem correctly, just click "show quoted text". Gmail looks at the previous messages for duplication and won't show it unless you ask.

Re: Gmail suppressing quotesI just checked with Evolution mail client under Linux using IMAP protocol
and there was no suppressed lines for me. Is there any difference on this when using POP3 protocol? This is why I like this here... :) Actually, it was a message view configuration that I never used and that I didn't even know that existed nor how it got activated -- and that for some reason seems to have been activated twice with bigger POP downloads from Gmail recently. That's why I thought it had to do with Gmail rather than with my client. Your question prompted me to check the raw email text -- and bingo, there were the quotes :) Which then prompted me to look for a view configuration that might hide the quotes -- and bingo, there was it :) Thanks, Gerhard -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |
