The whiteboard... doesn't supply links to searches. The keywords do.
I'd like that developers who are interested in collecting bounties to
have this search. Also, the fact that keywords are links will help to
"advertise" the bugs which have bounties.

Example:
I'm a young programming student/developer from a location where it is
nice to have $5 more. I come accross this bug because it occurred to
me.
"Hmmm.... interesting, this bug that I have has a bounty... Perhaps I
solve it and buy me a six-pack (or a week's worth of food). Hey,
there's a 'bounty' /keyword/ *click*. Wow, look at all these bounties!
Come get some!

I might get lost in semantics here, but those are not (yet) bounties to
me, but "still collecting the money for a bounty".

during my research I came across the following paper which might be in
your interest.

Here's the abstract:
Every bug has a story behind it. The people that discover and resolve it
need to coordinate, to get information from documents, tools, or other
people, and to navigate through issues of accountability, ownership, and
organizational structure. This paper reports on a field study of
coordination activities around bug fixing that used a combination of
case study research and a survey of software professionals. Results show
that the histories of even simple bugs are strongly dependent on social,
organizational, and technical knowledge that cannot be solely extracted
through automation of electronic repositories, and that such automation
provides incomplete and often erroneous accounts of coordination. The
paper uses rich bug histories and survey results to identify common bug
fixing coordination patterns and to provide implications for tool
designers and researchers of coordination in software development.

First of all, I want to say sorry. The last month was tough for me:
finally I became Computer Engineer (I got my degree) and I was part of
the organization team of the biggest FLOSS event in Chile called
"Encuentro Linux" [1].

Anyway, I have talked with Daniel Galleguillos, member of the Art Team.
He said "No problem, I'm happy to contribute to the BugSquad Team".
Daniel will contact Andreas Nilsson to work on this.

I still don't totally get why this is not a waste of time at the current
state we're in. :-)

So what to do with the UNCONFIRMED bugs?
Ask people to confirm them for a product that will die soon anyway?
Ask people to try to reproduce in 2.28, which still partially uses those
old products? If so, why, if that will die anyway and we will see some
new bugs (or the same bugs, but for different technical reasons)?

Ah, normally Bugzilla reconnects automatically:

But because jobqueue is a command-line script, it doesn't have that
variable set! We should set that variable. In fact, please file a bug
upstream about it.

Problems with jobqueue.pl falling over

So, after adding '-d' to the jobqueue.pl options on Max's advice, I was
able to figure out why the mail queue daemon has been falling over over
the last few days.

It's my fault (sort of).

The reason that the problem started showing up now, is that in order to
add links to reviews to outgoing mails for Splinter, I used the

mailer-before_send

hook. (It's not ideal, but its the only hook available in Bugzilla 3.4
to affect outgoing mail, and I want to keep Splinter working with
Bugzilla 3.4 and not require new hook additions.)

Now, if anything in mailer-before_send uses Bugzilla->dbh, then a
database connection is going to be opened in jobqueue.pl and left open.
We had mysqld configured with:

wait_timeout=820

(About 15 minutes), so if it the splinter hook didn't get run for 15
minutes, then the handle would be closed, and all the outgoing mail
would start producing errors like:

job failed: An error occurred processing hook mailer-before_send in extension
./extensions/splinter: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: MySQL server has
gone away [for Statement ... ]

As a temporary workaround for this I upped the wait timeout to 3600,
and hopefully that will make the problem basically go away for us, but
it's not really the right fix. I have no real idea what the right fix is.

(Moving the Splinter code to a new hook that gets run when formatting

In August GNOME Bugzilla was updated to version 3.4 by Max-Kanat Alexander with huge help of Olav Vitters and Owen Taylor. The previous version was several years old and did not receive any upstream security fixes anymore. It also had several GNOME-only enhancements that partially have been ported to 3.4 though some regressions remained.
The server hardware was also improved so timeout issues when running complex queries do not happen anymore.

From July to September, 9227 reports (bugs + feature requests) were opened and 8751 were closed.
Top bug closers were Akhil Laddha (484 reports), Fabio Durán Verdugo (455), Andre Klapper (269), Bastien Nocera (261) and Matthew Barnes (251).
Top bug reporters were Pedro Villavicencio (136 reports), Owen Taylor (116), Bastien Nocera (99), Colin Walters (92) and Matthias Clasen (87).

The GNOME Bugsquad has started to have monthly meetings to discuss policies and issues. The new policy to handle old forgotten reports is
in place and has been revised after feedback from developers.
UNCONFIRMED bug reports (but not enhancement requests) with one year without any activity will be set to NEEDINFO state and reporters will be asked to update the report’s status by testing again on a recent GNOME version.

When reports are closed as "FIXED" reporters will now kindly be asked to verify the fix once it has landed in their distribution and if they have some time.

As there are many modules in GNOME Bugzilla that have not seen any code changes for years (except for translation updates) the Bugsquad has started trying to identify those obsolete/unmaintained modules and contact the maintainers. Without a response the remaining reports will probably be closed as WONTFIX while explaining to the reporter that the module is not maintained anymore and will not receive any updates.

In order to improve workflow the Bugsquad now also has its own module in GNOME Bugzilla to keep track of assigned tasks.

Hey folks :)

We, the Bugsquad, want to have a bugday in around 8 weeks *yay*.
To show that the actions of the newbies are highly appreciated and to
convince people who are rather new on bugzilla to take part in the
bugday, we want to have a banner on top of bugzilla during the bugday.

So the question is, is it possible to have a banner on top of the
bugzilla and link to some page on l.g.o during the bugday?

Currently, we neither have a date nor a banner for the bugday, but we
hope that this'll be sorted out soonish :)

I regret I didn't make it the second time in a row to the IRC meeting.
I started my GNOME journey with the Bugsquad a couple of years ago but
was rather inactive the last year or so, shifting my efforts to other
parts of GNOME.

This is rather simple. Make anyone interested in following all user
activity watch the novice's email address. This is like standing in
his/her shoes. Do so by adding it to the
'user watching' list under Preferences->Email Preferences

I also would like to thank Frederic Peters for porting our small but
fine enhancements like the stock responses to the new Bugzilla.
