Moving evolution settings to 10.0

I have SuSE 10.0 on one machine and 9.1 on another, and I want to move my folders, addressbook and calendqr to 10.0. How can I do that?

Evol. 2.2.1.1 - Out of Office automatic reply

Hi All.

I was wondering if there is a way to do an out of office reply for all
incoming E-mails without having to use exchange? I don't seem to be able to
find it in any preference settings, nor able to find any documentation in
regards to this other than setting it up via exchange.

Install, or have someone install, CLAMAV on your mail server.

Hi, looking for suggestions;

I get 'phishing' emails purportedly from ebay and paypal two and three
times a day. Occasionally I legitimately purchase something using these
accounts, and therefore occasionally they send non-bogus transaction
emails.

Any suggestions on how I can set up a filter that catches the bogus
emails?

Evolution website lacks info on updating

In trying to update Evolution 2.0 to 2.2, I went to the Evolution website at
http://www.gnome.org/projects/evolution/ and noticed
the following. I've been waiting months for someone to notice these
but nothing has changed so I thought I would post here.

- On the home page, link to the codeblog is broken (server refuses
connection)

- On the download page, the links to Red Carpet are broken (404)

In general, there is no working mechanism listed under the 'Quick and
Easy' listing on the Evolution website to install or update.

There is no info on how to actually use Red Carpet to install or update
Evolution
even if one does have a functioning rc installation. There is nothing on
how one might possibly use more familiar Linux update mechanisms like RPM's
or yum to update Evolution either.

The only mechanism on the download page which has working links
is downloading and compiling from source. As the site says,
this is for 'For those of you in the compiling-from-source know'
which rules out a lot of potential Evolution users.

Are there any plans to update the site? I would have thought the
distribution and update mechanisms would have been more refined
now Evolution is well into 2.x. I'd be happy to add them myself but
I don't know the answers.

Include Remote Tests

Folks,

Just wondering if there's a description somewhere of what is done with
the "Include Remote Tests" filter in the Junk Mail settings.

I've seen the basic description from the docs, but it's somewhat vague,
for example:

What is the list of "known junk messages?"
Which anti-spam blacklists are used?

The description implies (IMO) that there are other tests involved as
well, but I can't find any specifics.

Annoying little problem in Evo 2.0.1

I've encountered an annoying little problem in Evo 2.0.1 (in SuSE Pro
9.2). Whenever I right-click on a message in my InBox and then click on
"Move to Folder," the folder list that appears in the window is frozen,
i.e. I can't select a folder to which to move the message. I have to
cancel, then repeat the same procedure. Second time around, it works. Is
there any way that I can fix this? TIA Kelly

looks like the plugins have been deleted or something (mail providers
are also plugins)

did you uninstall parts of it or something?

Evolution has no mail providers

Somehow in the last few days, my evolution installation has gotten
really screwed up. I logged in today to find all of my mail folders
gone. My .evolution directory seems ok - all the mail is in there, etc.
My calendars and tasks show up in the list on the left, but clicking
on them doesn't show anything (no tasks, no calendar entries).

I tried removing and readding my account, but there are no "server
types" listed in the recieveing email tab of the wizard. I've also
tried removing and reinstalling evolution, both from the Debian
repositories and from the tarball, both with no luck. On startup, I get

You can only have one mailbox.
Thats a limit of the current Webdav implementation afaik.
Guess it's actually on the MS side, not Evo.
Is Your Gal server a different machine from Your Exchange box?
If so, what happens if You enter the same entrie as Your Exchange box?

I am working with severall accounts. When replying to a message that is
adressed to one of those accounts, this is filled in the from field. I
think it would be a nice extension if when there is no elegible in the
to field, the Envelope-To header is used.

Higlight of to and CC field does not work

When I select a piece of text in the subject folder it is highlighted as
usally. When I am doing this in the to or cc field, the selected text is
not highlighted. What could be the problem?
I am working with 2.0.1 under SUSE 9.2 with KDE.

It's a typo. In my debug machine, it is

BONONO_ACTIVATION_PATH=$HOME/evodist/lib/bonobo/servers.
Maybe it's caused by I don't specify the LDFLAGS, I will have another try by setting LDFLAGS

replying to sender when reply-to is set to a list

I am subscribed to severall mailing list where the reply to is set to
the list. In this way the default is that the reply is send to the list
and not to the sender. (I made this mistake severall times on this
list.)
I am also moderator on those lists, so if someone misbehaves, I have to
reply to them and not to the list. Is there a way to send a reply e-mail
to the sender instead to the reply-to?

problem about bonobo activiation path

Folks,
I got a hard problem about debug evolution on solaris x86.
I checkout code, and setup build environment. Also I export
BONONO_ACTIVIATION_PATH=$HOME/evodist/lib/bonobo/servers

But evolution still load server from default system path.

Anybody can provide help?

No it doesn't. The current connector is using WebDAV which is not
supported very well for Exchange 5.5 (if at all).

Just curious then, current evo-connector doesn't work for exchange 5.5
is it? I have mine working (but no idea what exchange version it is. How
do I tell?)

Contact list problem solved

yeps, what a coincidence.. I fix it by myself..
I was traying out a new VT, and by chance I typed the 'evolution'
command -I use to trigger evolution thru input box.
So, calling evolution within a terminal, I was able to see the stderr
(the standad error messages) and guess what.. there it was.. exactly my
problem..I paste the text here:
(evolution:6927): evolution-shell-WARNING **: Cannot activate
'OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Component:2.2': g_module_open of
`/usr/lib/evolution/2.2/components/libevolution-addressbook.so' failed
with `libsasl2.so.2: no se puede abrir el fichero del objeto compartido:
No existe el fichero o el directorio'
So, I find out that libsasl2.so.2 is in cyrus-sasl-2.1.21-i486-1.tgz (in
a slackware linux distro.). I've installed that pkg, and that's all!
Now I've got the contact list in it place.
Its fair to say that cyrus-sasl-2.1.21-i486-1 package is NOT listed as a
dependency for evolution.
Hope this help people with similar problems.

Then do the following -
(a) ignore Return-Receipt-To if it differs from "Reply-To"
(b) ignore Return-Receipt-To if the messages is from a list (contains
"List-Id")
- most vacation notifiers already include such counter-measures and work
without incident.

there's no "contact list" utility in my evolution client!!

watta strange thing...I'm running evolution 2.2.1.1 -with all the
depencencies- on a slackware 10.1 (linux2.6.0) distro.
Every seems to be just ok: can send and recive mails from multiple
acconuts..but there's no refference to the contact list in the entire
mail client.. not in the main menu nor the left-side shortcut bar, in
witch are just 3 buttons: mail, calendar and tasks (all of the text is
in spanish..don't know if it's the spanish-version of evolution, or if
evolution support multiple languages in a single app.)
The only way I can get something 'related' to the contact list is when I
right-click over a mail adress, the context menu gives the option to
save the address in the contact list, but when I try to do so, then
appears a blank window with completely nothing inside it.
I'm looking at a screenshot of evolution from freshmeat.com, and it
doesn't look like mine.. in the screenshot's left-side shortcut bar are
5 buttons: summary, inbox, calendar, tasks and CONTACTS.. but in my
evoluiton client are just 3 (the 3 above listed)..
Any idea what's wrong?
Is the contcact list a plug-in which must be installed in a different
process?

that setting is calendar-only. the mailer uses the system time and the
