Good luck taking care of the proper syntax, escape characters etc. then.
I wouldn't dare doing this myself, not if I care about my productivity.

At first, find other participants. Then, more translations is not really
what you may want. You need quality translations, don't you? We in
Belarusian team has problems exporting Launchpad contributions to GNOME
because of their low quality.

You shouldn't edit PO files using a plain text editors, there are plenty
of specialized PO editor that take care of syntax etc. I'd suggest
Virtaal myself.

Instead of installing specific programs for everything I use my girlfiend gedit, which is IMO the best software ever. <3

As for launchpad, I personally find it badly organized and doesn't
encourage communication between translators, Pootle IMO fits on GNOME i18n project.

Have you tried using poedit, gtranslator or something similar? It pops
off some points in between.

Yeah, I think is a good idea. I think Ubuntu brainstorm page [1] uses
IdeaTorrent [2] GPL software, so an instance can be installed in gnome
servers if the web team accept your request ;)

There is already a Roadmap page here [3], but I think is a bit updated.
Then, some project has its own roadmap page, for example the see the
GTK+ roadmap page [4]

Did you have a look at http://l10n.gnome.org ? And I think such a topic should move to gnome-i18n list instead of this web-list. For a well organized team, the Damned-Lies system is much better than using Launchpad, though it can ease the participation for those contributors don't like to deal with po files directly.

However, I cannot translate any application because it is not so automatic: you have to save the file, open it, translating all the keys, be aware about the sintax, in order not to make the file unusable, then upload it. Why don't you install Launchpad on your servers in order to make more simple translation of your apps? Here (https://dev.launchpad.net/Getting) is a simple way to install it.

I would like to let you know that the gtkglext and companions website has been transferred to the projects.gnome.org .

I just come across to the HACKING [1] after we started the migration.

Is that ok or there are some problems?

Note that GtkGLext is already using gnome git, gnome mailing list service and the bugzilla.

We would like to include the API docs of the projects under the library.gnome.org .
How we can do that?

Hello Frederic,

I didn't know before in which repository it was being hosted, but I have
taken the freedom to commit the changes I explained.

Anyways, you are right and as the page was obsolete maybe it's not much
worth, but at least from now until it's decided to remove it, the page
won't be so confusing as it was.

I agree
The git projects is probably the best source for all official gnome
stuff. I don't think all projects should be directly displayed
however. We should pick out the best parts, and maybe have a
development libraries section and an extras section that can point to
things we don't want up front. As this is on the main page, a
less-is-more approach would probably benefit new users.

That page is obsolete and your email was filled with examples :)

I am not sure this is worth the effort but you could create a patch
agianst the svn-web repository, http://git.gnome.org/cgit/svn-web/

I had also noticed it and I was going to report it in bugzilla.
In my opinion, the best would be first doing a clean up and then adding
all the projects listed in http://git.gnome.org/cgit/. What do you think?

I have arrived to http://svn.gnome.org/ and I have found some
incongruences (4) that look obsolete with the migration from SVN to Git.

1.
GNOME has changed to using Git for version control. Current GNOME
sources can be found on git.gnome.org. All content on this site is obsolete.

-- Should it really say "All content on this site is obsolete"? SVN is
obsolete but that page is not!

2.
NOTE: If you have an existing CVS account, it will work with the
Subversion service.

-- It should say SVN instead of CVS and Git instead of Subversion,
doesn't it?

3.
If you need a Subversion development account, please see the new
accounts information page. For Frequently Asked Questions, please look
at Subversion FAQ on the GNOME Wiki.

May I humbly suggest changing 'which' to 'who'? The relative pronoun refers to persons, not things.

I visited http://projects.gnome.org/ for the first time yesterday and
found several great programs that I didn't know existed.
However, several projects in the list are outdated (galeon,
WVware...), deprecated (GB), replaced (gossip?). Other don't exist
(pdfmod, rygel)

I think it is a great resource for showcasing gnome stuff that is more
closely coupled with gnome than gnomefiles, but the page need to be

For the content team, we would like to review the content in the editor's instance of Plone. We have a lot of content done, but need to review it and tighten it up.

Talking about it briefly at the Marketing hackfest this week, team members agreed it would be easier to review it in the editor's instance rather than the wiki, which will help in reviewing the page flow as well.
