Regarding gnowsys installation on mac

Hello Sir,
First i try directly try to install gnowsys on
mac os but it was no installing in opt folder as specified in the
install script of the gnowsys.In these matter also i want to know that
gnowsys can be directly install on mac or we have to install plone for
mac first than add package of gnowsys into that and plone structure
which was embedded in gnowsys software was either compatiable with mac
or it only compatible with linux,please help me in these matter.

Second I tried installing gnowsys after
installing Plone. I was following the steps as given in the README.txt
in gnowsysApp_rc1 which I had checked out using
cvs -d%3Apserver%3Aanonymous@....

gnu.org:/sources/gnowsys co gnowsysApp_rc1

The steps were

1. Copy the gnowsysApp_rc1 folder to the Products directory of your Plone
2. Restart Zope
3. Add a plone-site.
4. From the portal_quickinstaller within the plone-site install
gnowsysApp_rc1 . Thats it.

While doing Step 4, I am getting an error like

Insufficient Privileges

You do not have sufficient privileges to view this page. If you
believe you are receiving this message in error, contact the site
administration.

Can you please suggest any solutions, I tried contact Site
Administration also, but that din't make any difference.

I am trying to port gnowsys on MAC OS but i not getting the full idea of the dependencies of gnowsys and also when i run gnowsys on my ubuntu first time it works properly but when i restart my PC it got hanged becuse of some reason and again i have to install ubuntu in that please help me to resolve these problem.

Retriving left and right object in relationship

we are using gnowsys 0.7. we have created a relationship and we want to retrieve the right and left objects of the relationship from the id of that relationship.
eg : relationship is 'Mumbai_locatedIn_Maharashtra' where mumbai and maharashtra are the objects and locatedin is the relationshipType.

but we are not able to retrieve the objects. can anyone please suggest us a way of retrieving the objects.
can we make use of getNeighbourhood()? what arguments should we pass to it?

We have studied the entire link sent by you. But still still we aren't able to fix the unicode problem.
Adding to it when we tried to get the translations by using ZPT then on interface the hexcode string is displayed instead of the fonts of the requested language, i.e. the unicode problem is also their when displaying translation on the interface.

It doesnt take unicode value for nid.
It does accept the same for status as well as Title.

problem in nid value

This problem which we mentioned was because of nid which is given to the object.

unicode problem

Got this error when uploading the objects in the gnowsys which has non unicode format.


Error Type: UnicodeDecodeError
Error Value: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe7 in position 0: ordinal not in range(128)

We even applied the encode method to get information in string format:
a='hello'
a.encode('utf-8')

But still it didnt work..
Guide us as soon as possible.

are you writing this code in the script object? if so, you cannot
import polib. what you have to do is to create a file within the
Extensions folder of the product.

I suggest to harvest the pofiles not from zope, but connect to zope
using xmlrpc from a regular python application. for harvesting you do
need only a gnowsys server running, but you can run the python
application from any client.

the error is with respect to import.
But we tried to import math and it allowed us to do so without any error.We are not able to fix the problem.So guide asap.

the documentation present in the dvd is also present at the website,
http://www.gnowledge.org/gnowsys/.

however this is for the older version, and the current version
documentation is not yet complete.
please use the installation documentation as published on the
selfplatform development site, and if you have further doubts please
contact KK or alpesh during this week. this is till we complete the
gnowsys documentation.

Hello all,

I have just been trying out this python script.I am getting an error.

Title         :
Parameter list: principal , interest_rate , periods , years         (in block)

Box Area

i = interest_rate / periods
n = periods * years
return ((1 + i) ** n) * principal

Test

Parameter               Value
principal                 20000
interest_rate           0.05
periods                4
years                     20

Run Script

Error Type: TypeError
Error Value: unsupported operand type(s) for /: 'str' and 'str'

What does this error mean ??Does the parameter list assumes values as string??
If so,how to type cast parameters as float,float,int and int respectively??
Or the code/syntax itself is incorrect ?? Please help.

I have installed Zope using the Gnoware DVD.

Inorder to import an object into Zope, when I try to copy the file(object) into the zope import directory : /usr/local/Zope2.8-instance/import it gives me the error "Permission Denied".

When i checked the properties, i came to know that the owner of zope2.8-instance is 'zope' and it also shows me a message that "You are not the owner, so you can't change these permissions."

The same problem occurs when i try to create a new databse table in the /usr/local/Zope2.8-instance/var/gadfly directory.

Kindly suggest me a solution for the above problem.
