For GNU ccRTP developers. GNU ccRTP is an implementation of RTP, the real-time transport protocol from the IETF (see RFC 3550, RFC 3551 and RFC 3555). ccRTP is a C++ library based on GNU Common C++ which provides a high performance, flexible and extensible standards-compliant RTP stack with full RTCP support.
Hi Leandro,

sorry for responding so late. I integrated your code into the
ccRTP-library and got it compiled and installed. There was only one
small problem: your classes RTPBaseDCCPIPv4Socket and
RTPBaseDCCPIPv6Socket do have the member-function available() which
calls a static member function available() of the DCCPSocket class of
the common cpp library which doesn't exist. Since available() was
called nowhere in your patch nor in your client-server example I just
took it out. After that the patched library compiled and installed
perfectly fine. What was availabe() supposed to do?

Thank you
>>>>>>> We from the Federal University of Campina Grande has provided
>>>>>>> support for dccp in commoncpp. We have also provided support for
>>>>>>> ccrtp, but the code wasn't (still) merged in the mainline of the
>>>>>>> project. We've submitted the patches to the ccrtp guys, but after they
>>>>>>> confirm they received the patches, until this moment, they didn't
>>>>>>> confirm the merge, probably they are busy.
>>>>>>>> my name is Patrick Schreiner and I am a student at the university of
>>>>>>>> Tübingen.
>>>>>>>> I'm trying to give proof of concept for a VoIP client which can adapt
>>>>>>>> to net bandwidth and adjust the algorithmic delay used by its codec.
>>>>>>>> Since common c++ supports DCCP sockets since version 1.7.1 I
>>>>>>>> wanted to
>>>>>>>> ask if anyone has already extended ccRTP to also support DCCP. Or if
>>>>>>>> no one has done that yet, if anyone could give me a little
>>>>>>>> jump-start.
>>>>>>>> My understandig up to now is, that I would have to extend the
>>>>>>>> channel.h by the class RTPBaseDCCPIPv4Socket. But how would have a
>>>>>>>> DualRTPChannel class for DCCP to look like? I'll appreciate any help
>>>>>>>> you can give me.
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>> Thanks in advance,

first of all thank you very much for extending cc++ with DCCP. This is

prefix - "http://wiki.gnutelephony.org"
and that doesn’t work

Ok, my question is on licensing. The
license has an exception clause, basically for linking so that other software
using this are excepted from the GPL licensing reciprocity.

“As a special exception, you may use this file as part
of a free software library without restriction. Specifically, if other
files instantiate templates or use macros or inline functions from this file,
or you compile this file and link it with other files to produce an executable,
this file does not by itself cause the resulting executable to be covered by
the GNU General Public License. This exception does not however
invalidate any other reasons why the executable file might be covered by the
GNU General Public License.”

My question is about the scope of this exception, what does ‘as
part of a free software library’ mean? Was the intent
to only have ccRTP only work with other FOSS products? Other ‘free
software’?

If we include ccRTP into a deliverable to US Gov, under a
standard Gov purpose license, was that intended to be allowed?

(this wouldn’t be a general commercial software, but a
specialized solution built for US Gov agency)

Please advise, we are trying to do the right thing by your
intention

Allan Hardy

It certainly does. ccRTP is a standard, RFC-compliant (as far as I
know), implementation of the Real-Time Transport Protocol.

See the demo/ directory within the main source folder for an example on
how to use it within your application. It should be pretty
straightforward. You can also refer to other projects that are using it:

Where in the source of ccRTP did you find the below diagram?

In your first mail you refer to RFC 3686 - this RFC is in no way
related to RFC 3711, no even referenced in RFC 3711. RFC 3711
describes the AES counter mode encryption that must be used for
SRTP. The below diagram does not make sense for SRTP.
> Do you implement SRTP for this RTP stack? We already have SRTP
> avaliable since some years. If you like to implement SRTP for some
> other project maybe you can have a look in the source files to
> see how this is implemented.
>
>>
>> as per my understanding of SRTP RFC3711,
>> Initialization vector(IV) is generated as
>>
>> IV = (salt_key << 16) XOR (SSRC << 64) XOR (packet_index << 16)
>>
>> and keystream segment (required for AES ICM ) is generated as
>>
>> Keystream_seg = E(k,IV) where k=Session key
>> i.e Keystream_seg = k XOR IV
>>
>> is my understanding correct wrt SRTP standard??
>>
>> Wherein AES ICM RFC3686, keystream segment consists
>> keystream_seg = NONCE || IV || Counter where Counter advances from initial val=0.
>>
>> I mean how to relate these keystream_seg forming units in AES ICM(NONCE,IV,Counter) with SRTP header fields & fields computed from them??
>>
>> Second, how should i generate Master Key on sender side??And how to derive session keys from Master Key??

Hi
I am implementing SRTP and have little confusion about it.

as per my understanding of SRTP RFC3711,
Initialization vector(IV) is generated as

IV = (salt_key << 16) XOR (SSRC << 64) XOR (packet_index << 16)

and keystream segment (required for AES ICM ) is generated as

Keystream_seg = E(k,IV) where k=Session key
i.e Keystream_seg = k XOR IV

is my understanding correct wrt SRTP standard??

Wherein AES ICM RFC3686, keystream segment consists
keystream_seg = NONCE || IV || Counter where Counter advances from initial val=0.

I mean how to relate these keystream_seg forming units in AES ICM(NONCE,IV,Counter) with SRTP header fields & fields computed from them??

Second, how should i generate Master Key on sender side??And how to derive session keys from Master Key??

I am evaluating ccrtp for an audio streaming solution (muroa.berlios.de). So
far, I found all the features I need in ccrtp (1.5.1), but there is one thing
left:

How can I make the sender send a RTCP SR right at the start? I need it, to
have the RTP-NTP timestamp correlation to start playback on the client
synchronously to other clients.

Background: What I want do do is start a new session with a burst, so the
client can start playback immediately with the first data packet and gets its
receive buffer filled anyway. I managed to tell ccrtp to perform a burst in
starting the RTP timestamp at negative numbers, so all data packets with RTP
timestamp < 0 will be sent immediately. All packets with RTP ts > 0 will be
correctly scheduled.

With that burst, the client can start playback immediately after receiving the
first packet. The problem is, that I need the first SR early. I have seen in
the source, the first RTCP packet will be a RR, because no data packets have
been sent yet. The second RTCP packet is a SR (data has been sent in the
meanwhile), but it arrives after ~20 RTP data packets (5% bandwidth for
control).

Any ideas, how to get a SR packet out of an unmodified ccrtp stack at before
or directly after the first data packet?

By the way: where to specify the NTP timestamp in the API?

I would be thankful for any tips or ideas regarding this topic.

Thanks in advance,
Regards,

As I have understood RFC3550 you must put related streams on different
SSRCs, for example, one sender might have video at UDP port 5000/1 and

Hi all,

I'm implementing RFC3984 (H.264 payload format) for use with ccRTP. I
have a general question about the Fragmentation Unit, if anyone knows.
When you fragment a NALU, you put two bytes in front of each fragment,
1 for FU indicator, and 1 for FU header. These 2 bytes contain the
same information that the NALU header does.

My question is, are you supposed to strip out the NALU header and
re-assemble it on the receiver side, or do you just leave the NALU
header as is?

Hi all,

I am working in a QoS extension for VoIP and I am using ccrtp. What I'm trying to do is increase RTCP packets rate during a conversation when some event occurs. I've thought some possibilities for doing that but neither of them seemed to work.

The first one consists in using "setSessionBandwidth(0.25)" function to have a 25% of RTCP rate compared to RTP rate. But I don't see any difference maybe because it only works before stablishing conversation and not during it, am I correct?

The other one is use "dispatchControlPacket" function to control when I want to send the packets, this works for me but it seems the information in packets like fraction lost become wrong because I don't send the packets at the right time.

If anyone has a solution for this I would be very grateful
