That information is stored in a cookie client side.

You might check that you cookies are allowed.

Changes are not permanent

i have installed gnump3 without problems, run it, play it and so... the only thing i'm having problems with is this : if i go to preferences and select any changes for theme of whatever it does not stay like a permanent change, if after the selection, i follow one link, the configuration turns 'default'!

any ideas? im thinking of permissions but i cant realize where.

Thats becouse the files you want to play are not readable by the gnump3d's user, try doing chmod to your music folder!

I heard the original dev wanted to port the app to Ruby which seems

then, i don't know how and where to place this bit of script in your
pages to have a link at the bottom of any directory page.

And, again, to complicate things: exaile can open everything; movies and music, but vlc/mplayer/everything else can't! And, the debug for gnump3d just keeps spitting-out the same junk.

Some additional details:

I can play the files on the computer to which the external hd is connected using http://192.168.1.3:5190/.
I can see the files on my laptop connected to the lan using http://192.168.1.3:5190/.
netstat is now reporting 5190 as open.
I can download files through gnump3d, but can't open them in either vlc or mplayer.

Sounds like it is a either a file system permissions issue or that a
firewall is blocking application(s) or access to the port that you have
GnuMP3d running on.

Verify that all the files AND directories are readable/browsable by the
user that GnuMP3d is running as.

To double-check, I set all files and dirs as 777.

Verify that the server/service is running on the port you expect it to
be on using netstat.

netstat doesn't show port 5190 as open... I'm guessing this may be the problem. How's this solved?

Verify that you can connect to the port with telnet from a remote machine.

Telnet reports it cannot make a connection.

If you have a firewall (FW)
Verify that your FW is not blocking your application(s)
Verify that your FW is not blocking any of the ports for GnuMP3d

Completely disabled ufw just for testing.

If all the above are correct, then I'm out of ideas

Well, I managed to hack the gnump3d script and template of choice enough to get this to work.
It's ugly, but it will do. Sadly the script makes a lot of assumptions about serving out of
the root folder which made what I wanted to do more difficult that I really wanted.

Problem with flac files

Hi,

I recently discoverd a problem with flac files : when clicking on ‘info’ with a flac file, only Filename and Mtime are displayed. With other file types I get to see the other tag info such as Artist, Genre, Bitrate and so on.

When opening these flac files in Winamp or Foobar I can see the tags are there and contain the right info.

Any ideas ?

Okay, some additional wrinkles. If I attempt to open any avi file, both Opera10 and Firefox 3.0.11 try to download the file on my Xubuntu lappie and IE8, Opera9, and Firefox3 do the same on my wife's XP lappie. HOWEVER, if I try and open a stream in mplayer, it crashes with ridiculous amounts of errors, to the point I need to killall mplayer. Opening a stream in VLC, though, works PERFECTLY. Huh?

I'd like to configure gnump3d so that I can use apache to proxy my requests. Instead of opening an extra port on my firewall I would like to just do the following:

ProxyPass /music/ http://localhost:8888/
ProxyPassReverse /music/ http://localhost:8888/

The first problem I ran in to was the links... but it was easy enough to modify the templates to use the correct address.

The problem now is that since the proxy is sending 'Host' as 127.0.0.1, and then sending the original requestor as the X-Forwarded-For header. I don't want to add 127.0.0.1 to my allowed-users, since this would effectively let anyone access the site through the proxy.

Any suggestions?

Don't bother-- htpassword support was removed in v3.0 as it was
completely ineffectual. (since e.g. Winamp doesn't know how to enter a
password, only the directory listings were passworded, which provides
only minimal protection).

External access control (e.g. a firewall, perhaps one that uses MAC
addresses to limit access) is a better bet. The machine you're using
for port-forwarding is an ideal candidate to implement this. You could,
for example, construct an SSH tunnel instead of forwarding the port to
everyone. Though, if I may ask, why bother?
