Hi,
i really enjoyed using Lightzone for Linux the last couple of months but
now it's time to switch. I started with Lightzone 2.1 retouching my
Canon EOS 400D/Rebel XTi photos and worked with LZ 2.4 recently.
After testing BibblePro for some days now i decided to go with Bibble
and say "thank you" to LightCrafts for their free product. I really
considered buying Lightzone 3.x for Linux if it had been released by
now. Since there are only rumours but no hard evidence that there will
even be a supported Linux version i'll go stick with BibblePro.
Some reasons why i prefer BibblePro over Lightzone for Linux (2.4):
-No RAW-support for Canon EOS 40D - all images have a red tint
-Replacing dcraw with a newer version results in "Unknown file format"
(or something like this) message in Lightzone
-That's the reason why i tried BibblePro in the first place, btw
-Speed. Lightzone is a lame duck compared to BibblePro
-This includes:
-Saving (exporting is slow as in bibble) files
-Browsing files
-Open RAW files
-Enforcing SSE2 with Lightzone 2.4
-No real support for Linux
Some things i really enjoyed working with Lightzone for Linux:
-Zonefinder
-Regions
Maybe i'll give it a try if a new version gets released for linux.
Thanks for reading,
Marcel.
