Google Code mp4v2

The mpeg4ip project (from which the libmp4v2 dependency is satisfied) has been abandoned by Cisco.
The authors of HandBrake < http://handbrake.fr > have adopted, modified, and extended the source for the project.
Their fork is actively maintained as mp4v2 on Google Code < http://code.google.com/p/mp4v2 >; however, it uses an entirely different syntax for tag reading and writing.
Would supporting the new mp4v2 syntax be a reasonable goal for some future release?

Cheers,

We could add support for taglib version 1.6 that has mp4 support and by that we'll leave the universe repositories due to mpeg4ip dependency...

I think taglib would work fine for the tagging purposes, but we're also
using libmp4v2 for handling chapter data.  From what I can tell, taglib
only reads the audio track(s) of the file, and doesn't have any concept of
the text tracks that hold the chapter data.  I do think it would be nice
to support the new mp4v2 and I'd be willing to help, but there'd be some
autoconf (or something) magic going on that I don't know anything about.
