Re: Google Lively, pandorabots & chat translation. (multi lingual bots)Have you talked to Google R&D, not
just some help desk? Recent articles have discussed how very aggressive
Google is with their innovations and testing of new algorithms. Their
language tools are recognized as some of the best AI currently available.
Real time IM translation chat is a natural progression of their software. (Like wise their leading edge search
capabilities would lend itself to development of very large domain chat bots or
expert systems. Hopefully you all could sweet talk the right Google
scientists and get some collaboration going. These technologies are mutually beneficial
and reinforcing; it begs for systems integration. For those of you who are more
on the Avatar building side of things there are several companies currently
offering IM language translation: Speaklike, Springwise, Skype has a free plug
in, and MeGlobe.com I would think these companies would be delighted to
provide their services to the virtual worlds of Second Life, Sony, MSN, and now
Google. One of these services could be leveraged into making your bot multi
lingual. (Even if just batch processing of the KB) Google lurker staff are
you out their??? From:

Re: Google Lively, pandorabots & chat translation. (multi lingual bots)Don’t you think that real-time chat
translation is a ways away even now? I know that the translations I get from
Babelfish aren’t always that good, and they’re not real-time. From:

Re: Google Lively, pandorabots & chat translation. (multi lingual bots)I have tried Google’s language tools,
and they are very good, not perfect, but good enough for casual conversations. The processing lag was only about 5
seconds. I have not tested the other products I mentioned. They first
appeared in January. I will test the Skype plug-in, and I’ll
let you know what I think. Note also that now both Nvida and ATI
offer co-processor cards with performance over ONE TERAFLOP. Prices range from $1000 to $2400 for 12
teraflops. Processing lag will soon not be an issue. You will all soon be
able to tune your AI engines to deeper levels of analysis. Babblefish is
certainly to be applauded for there vision and early innovation, but I don’t
know if they have the resources to exploit the latest AI statistical pattern
matching algorithms. From:
