Google Maps Instructions Outdated?

Hi,

I've been using GpsDrive for a while (a couple of years) now, using maps downloaded from Google Maps following the instructions on the GpsDrive wiki:

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/gpsdrive/index.php?title=Creating_maps

and using the site it refers to:

http://gtm.tel.uva.es/ztep/maps/dmap.htm

It all seems to work well, except that something seems to have changed since the last time I downloaded some maps in 2008.  Using the latest development version of GpsDrive on Ubuntu (Jaunty) the maps that I downloaded a few days ago do not seem to be recognised by GpsDrive

I have some clue as to why.  The previous version complained about too many digits (or something) in the map_koord.txt file, but the current version does not.  I've included a sample of my file in case someone can spot something obviously wrong.  The maps in the nz/ directory work fine, those in the si12 do not.

Any other suggestions?  Have others been using that web site with no problems recently?

Thanks in advance,

John

John,

for NZ maps I strongly suggest to install Mapnik support as per the
instructions on the GpsDrive wiki. You can get an enhanced OpenStreetMap
data file containing all the NZOGPS+LINZ data from the NZOGPS google groups
mailing list. (sorry I don't have the exact link on hand, you have to
download .osm files per regional council from a OSM devel server then
add it to the PostGIS db with the append flag)

the results are no less than spectacular.

I tried that site about 1 month ago (and cleaned up those instructions
while I was at it), ISTR it worked but I didn't test much at all.
Maybe my edits broke something?

regards,
Hamish
