The problem with events not appearing was because the calendar was disabled.
Unfortunately, the calendars list checkboxes are just black on Fremantle device
so you cannot see which are enabled!

Priority reduced slightly.

Now that the default configuration is to have sidebar enabled for agenda only,
the sidebar no longer displays on startup.  It should be displayed, with agenda
only.

Not sure whether it is just a logic error or whether the sidebar is being
hidden for some other reason.

I have only tested this on Fremantle, I don't know whether it also happens on
other platforms.
