Grace Beginner

Hello, I have an Alesis Q49 midi keyboard connected via USB to my computer which is running Grace.

I have successfully configured Audio -> Midi Out and Audio -> Midi In and I managed to get some sal demos playing.

However, I'd like to try composing a few songs myself via my midi keyboard.

I've looked at the online copy of the book  ( http://web.archive.org/web/20050312064421/http://pinhead.music.uiuc.edu/~hkt/nm/00/contents.html ) and it doesnt seem to cover the basics of making simple songs in full detail.

If anyone could point to some tutorials on this subject I would appreciate it.
