Gutenprint resolution-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1 I tried searching past messages for this which I saw recently, but cannot find the answer. I have various things for which I create a raster image before printing. Would I be correct that the quality/size/time to print will be best if I set these rasters to the maximum resolution that Gutenprint handles internally? The actual maximum internal resolution is what I saw mentioned, but cannot find again now, and would like again. From: Tor at Shared Genius <tor@...> I tried searching past messages for this which I saw recently, but cannot find the answer. I have various things for which I create a raster image before printing. Would I be correct that the quality/size/time to print will be best if I set these rasters to the maximum resolution that Gutenprint handles internally? The actual maximum internal resolution is what I saw mentioned, but cannot find again now, and would like again. Time to print will certainly be longer. Whether quality will depends upon what you're printing. If you're printing vector line art with extremely fine detail, you may well see a difference. If you're printing photographs, you probably won't see much difference with the input resolution much above 360 DPI. -- Robert Krawitz <rlk@...> Tall Clubs International -- http://www.tall.org/ or 1-888-IM-TALL-2 Member of the League for Programming Freedom -- http://ProgFree.org Project lead for Gutenprint -- http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net "Linux doesn't dictate how I work, I dictate how Linux works." --Eric Crampton ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial. It did seem odd that Gutenprint would have had an input resolution limit on the order of 360dpi.
