Gutenprint resolution

I tried searching past messages for this which I saw recently, but
cannot find the answer.

I have various things for which I create a raster image before printing.
Would I be correct that the quality/size/time to print will be best if
I set these rasters to the maximum resolution that Gutenprint handles
internally?

The actual maximum internal resolution is what I saw mentioned, but
cannot find again now, and would like again.

Thanks,

Tor

Time to print will certainly be longer.  Whether quality will depends
upon what you're printing.  If you're printing vector line art with
extremely fine detail, you may well see a difference.  If you're
printing photographs, you probably won't see much difference with the
input resolution much above 360 DPI.

Thanks.  I must have misread what I saw earlier.  It did seem odd that
Gutenprint would have had an input resolution limit on the order of 360dpi.
