Gwenview does not display the "plugins" menu

I am running Gwenview 1.4.2 on Asus Eee. It appeared to install OK, but
when I run it the Plugins menu is missing. However if I go to "Settings
-> Configure Photo Manager" the  Kipi plugins are there and mostly checked.

When I start Gwenview in a terminal window it says:

"QObject::connect: Cannot connect (null)::aboutToShow() to
Gwenview::MainWindow::loadPlugins()"

I think I recently saw a comment somewhere on the net about this being
caused by some file being in the wrong location, but I have Googled it
in vain today.

Can someone help me with this please?

Regards,
Patrick Keogh

Just a silly question, are the kipi-plugins installed?

Yes. Synaptic reports 0.1.2-3xandros13 is installed.

Looks like you are using a crippled gwenviewui.rc which is missing the
"Plugins" menu.

Quit Gwenview, then remove ~/.kde/share/apps/gwenview/gwenviewui.rc if
it exists. If it does not, download the original Gwenview archive from
[1] and replace the system gwenviewui.rc file (probably found in
/usr/share/apps/gwenview/gwenviewui.rc) with the one from the archive.

Hope this helps
Aurélien

That fixed it! Thanks Aurélien! For thebenefit of others it appears that the Asus Eee repository has a broken version.
I removed Gwenview and reinstalled and still it didn't work. Fetching and replacing gwenviewui.rc from Sourceforge fixed it.

Great! I can't understand why Xandros cripple Gwenview like that :(
